Now that the cougar football season is over, it is time for basketball season, Nothing good has happend in Cougar basketball for 5 years. Although they could at least compete a few of those years. What are some thoughts on why Cougar basketball is in this shape???

Everybody talks about getting a new football coach...I think it's about time we get a new basketball coach. They need new and fresh....not the same old stuff they've had for years. Basketball is not the same game is was 10 years ago! As long as everyone is content to stay the same and not to make any advances that's were our team is going to stay. In the past watching the teams (coaches) that embrace basketball move with the times!!!

They will, yet again, be very young...I don't know if the answer is a new coach, but the energy could certainly afford a boost...maybe a new/young assistant to breath new life into the tired Cougar program.

I've been to Campbell County basketball games. Talent is there but the coaching is not.

The famous Lynn Pierce stall offense...you know when he coached in the 80's and had such great runs with Provins, Marlow, Carroll, Garner, etc. he didn't do that crap.

(ae2) I can talk basketball! I have coached in the school system, Jr. Pro, and AAU for about 10 yrs. My son started his freshman year at the HS but before the season started he quit. He wasn't down with all the crap that goes with the basketball team. He said he had more important things to do...like his education. I was very upset...he played at LaFollette and was the captain his 8th grade yr. And most of the crap was the coach! .....I don't know why anyone would want to keep him other than loyalty of a friend. And that's one of CC biggest problems because of who you are!!!!!!!!!!!! I would watch the games and was so mad by the time they were over...There have been SO MANY games that the ONLY reason we lost was the coaching!!! We have had some excellent talent these last few years. With the talent we have had we should be very much in the running...(winning seasons). Right now the sophomores should be unbeatable by the time they are seniors! Mike has coached them since they were very young. He coached them at WLES...with the addition of the ones from Jacksboro way that played on his AAU team. Keenan was a part of that team (WLES county championship 23-0)...(but he got held back for sports reasons...oh, everyone already knows that...lol) I totally think Mike should still be coaching them!!! Like Mike said at one of the basketball banquets..."When we're winning it's the boys, when we're losing it's the Coach"! and with the talent he had..that was very true. There was no reason that they should have lost a game...And they didn't! When you have the talent and still lose...gut check!!!! Some people are just greedy...there is so many coaches in this county that get paid...and that's the bottom line...they get paid! Because they sure the crap can't coach!!!!!

Mike would be an excellent choice as coach at cchs. He is very knowledgeable in the game and works very well with the kids.

Mike is the best young bball coach in the county. I'd say Robbie has a bit much on his plate at LMS to coach again.

Jody Wright would be a great hire, But would he even consider leaving a haven for athletes, I mean he competes with the best athletes in knox. With his discipline though they arent yor typical east or west knox punk team.

Good point zook! Coach Wright has to outrecruit many high schools in Knox for superior athletes. In CC he would not have to. THere is talent in this county! I would love to see what he could do, it would be very fun to watch!

I have info from a pretty good source that Robbie would love to take over the LMS team. But doesn't want to just step in and take it away from Dotson. I agree Robbie should be at the HS...head coach and Mike assistant. Mike should without a doubt be kept with his players that he has groomed for many years now. They need a complete over haul...not the players the coaches! But like was said...nothing is going to happen until Pierce steps down on his own. And that is too bad! Especially for the kids that work very hard to compete. Everyone says I do it for the kids...but honestly how many do it for themselves? Like in the Bible the two ladies that claim to both be the mother of the baby...the real mother (that really cared!!!) stepped down and said the baby isn't mine. That's what has to happen...someone has to step down and say.....you do it!
