Reid is a good player and if he decides not to play thats his fault. IMO, its a wrong choice b/c he has a ton of talent running the football. As far as the whole LMS team last year. Im not gonna say he carried the team, but I think without him, it would have been a long year for the Owls.

For the Cougars sake, you better hope Reid doesn't transfer to a team we play. I sense some Reid jealousy here. Oh well, I guess if Reid's dad was on the coaching staff, he would be seeing some playing time.

We saw Reid in a scrimmage and he's a gifted athlete. There were 3 on that team who stood out. But if your team hinges on the performance of a single player, you've got serious problems. (Speaking from experience here.) You may have heard, but the Blue Devils have had their share of drama this season and it has not really affected the team's performance. Remember, these are kids. They're gonna make mistakes and bad decisions. They're gonna be rebelious sometimes. It's not a matter of life and death (normally). If the kid wants to quit, he should quit. It is his life, right? IMO, we should let him do what he wants to do and not give him a hard time. The team's playing on Friday with or without him, right? They should focus on the game and the other stuff will work itself out. If you pay too much attention to broken elbows, skipping practice, faking hurt, etc. and not enough to the x's and o's, you might end up 0-22.

You are entitled to your opinion but i have to agree with CougarVixen. He has to be there and grow up and referring to a post earlier in the thread where it talks about hoping reid isnt transferred to a team that plays Campbell County, if he is we wont have to wrry about it cause he wont go to practice there either. He has talent it takes maturity to grow within the talent that God gives. Personally i like to watch reid play but id rather watch someone who is dedicated and wants to go to practice instead of someone that thinks they should hand him everything and not make him work.

Vixen,
Why do you start personal attacks when you can't logically win an argument. You must be a Democrat. I have forgotten more about football than you will ever know Vixen. This is a message board and you should be able to handle it when someone doesn't agree with you. I know that players must attend practice if they want to play. I don't believe Reid has missed as many practices as you say he has. The coaches killed his confidence early in the season when they tried to move him from his natural position of running back. Its funny that the first time he touched the ball against Union County he scored a touchdown. He hasn't seen the field since. I also know that you need a lot more than one great player at the high school level, but I have seen several great running backs carry middle school teams in the past (for example: last year's Owls team). Reid just needs a chance to be part of this TEAM. I have went through many seasons with the Cougars and I will continue to support this team whether Reid transfers or not. I just don't want us to lose another great player like we have so many times in the past.

I know that reid has missed some practices due to going to the beach for a week during the summer, and then he and his friend got hit by a car on his bicycle a few weeks or so after that (lucky to be alive, his friend got several stitches in his elbow). the doctor put his leg in some kind of cast like thing. he told me that he still showed up at practice so the coach wouldn't think he was faking or not wanting to go. so i don't know how much he missed there... But, other than that, i thought he was pretty consistent.
vixen, you said that he will play when he learns the plays. he was saying that they aren't even letting him practice any plays. he doesn't get to do any 11 on 11 action. or get to practice any running back plays. so how does he supposed to learn if he doesn't get to practice them? but, of course if he has been missing practice then he won't get to learn.
and like i was saying earlier on, i don't understand why they didn't let him play in the powell game when we were losing so bad in the 4th quarter. I mean what do they have to lose??? stuff like that was crushing his confidence...
cougaralum is right about this just being a place to debate and discuss things. not everyone will agree with what you have to say 100% of the time.

Reid needs to earn his chance. Running one time isnt enough of a chance to get him anything. The only way he can earn a chance is by 1. not giving up, 2. show dedication and come to practice, and finally take the time to actually learn the plays. Come on use your head here. He may be a great player but his work ethic off the field affects the player. Dont be so narrow minded. and on a personal level dont be so quick to say "I have forgotten more about football than you'll ever know." That sounds like a childish statement. Lets keep this board a little mature how bout it.

Phenom,
Did you read Vixen's post above? I was simply replying to her personal attack. You need to read all of the thread before you tell me to be mature. I am glad that you are an expert on Reid's work ethic. I think it is childish for you and Vixen to come on here and bash Reid's "work ethic" and question his heart. I have not said one negative comment about the players, only the coaches.

Remember guys. This coach is hard on freshmen. Right or wrong, bottom line if you are not a relative of the coaching staff or politically connected you are not going to play varsity as a freshman. No matter how good you are.

ASlthough you may not say anything negative about the players, you are building up someone who doesnt deserve it, in my opinion. I like the kid and yes last year his dedication was that of a leader but this year where did it go? Im not questioning his heart im questioning his decision making.
