As I posted on CCHS-Powell thread, the dissension is starting already.
Folks, you may not believe this, but I only want the best for ALL the school teams in the county. That is why I am so adamant that we need to bring in better coaches. But, of course, that means the school board is going to have to pay coaches more to get them here.
The problem starts at the top. I know for fact that Larry Kerr (Anderson County coach) wanted to come here once upon a time. Our school board would not hire him. I know for fact that Joe Gaddis (former Oak Ridge coach) wanted to come here once upon a time. Again, our school board would not even give him consideration. I think both of these coaches have won state titles.
I am solid behind the kids, but not the coaching situation as it is.
By the way, someone stated in the other thread, that this is the time to beat Powell, when they are down. I sure hope the rest of the teams the Cougars play are in worse shape than Powell seems to be. If that was down, I sure do not want to play a team that is up.
Quit drinking the Kool-Aid and supporting this coaching staff and let's put some pressure on to make our sports programs better. I know for fact that one of the elected school board members wanted to change the coaching situation at CCHS last year, he told me so is how I know. But, alas, it did not happen and you see what we have, yet again.

So you want to fire the only coach who has ever led the football team to a winning season?

If the adults that are on this board would stop and think one second...These are Kids! Most of them OUR kids! I am behind them 110% no matter who's coaching them, no matter who we're playing, no matter who likes the program, no matter who stands behind them. I am! And most importantly no matter if they win or lose! Do you honestly think that the boys playing this game want to lose? They get out there at the position that they are told to play and do their best to make all of you naysayers Happy! To Win!!! So stand behind our Cougars...if you don't like'em MOVE to AC. I'm sure they will make you proud....just down the road! fan (fãn) n. An ardent devotee; an enthusiast.Go Cougars!

So you want to fire the only coach who has ever led the football team to a winning season? You ask that as if you think because he coached the team to one winning season and lost the only playoff game the Cougars have ever been in, this should justify that he continues as the coach forever. Is that about it? Let me tell you what he had that year. I was at the Dobyns-Bennett game. The Cougars should have won that game. I was at the Farragut playoff game. The Cougars should have won that game. What the team had that was year was a bunch of good players that out-played the coaching. But whenever the coaching took over a game, the coaching lost a game the players should have won.

haha, this orangewashed guy really is crazy if he thinks we should have beaten DB that year. In case you dont remember Steiner broke his hand the week before the DB game so they had to move Chris to QB to start the game since there was no true back-up. DB went 10-0 that year & won this game 48-0. They stacked up on the run & just had way too much talent. Same deal in the Farragut game without Steiner there wasn't much of a passing game so they loaded up on the run. The Cougs threw 5 shut-outs that year so it wasnt all Chris it was a team effort & they had a very good d-coordinator in David Wampler that year also.

It may have been another game that I was had in mind. Maybe I was mistaken on which team it was. But there was another game against a high rated team that year at home, that coaching absolutely lost for the team. Like I have said before, if I make a mistake, I do not mind backing up and admitting it. Sure wish some of you Kool-Aid drinkers would do the same. Oh, sorry, I guess I should jump on board and say that everything is just wonderful with the coaching situation at CCHS. I guess there is nothing wrong with getting beat by Powell 35-0. My mistake again for thinking that is just not OK.
Is Wampler still at Oneida, at least he was smart enough to get away from this coaching situation. I did talk to him a couple of times after he left, and maybe you know what I do Beardencoach as to why he left.
He put the Kool-Aid down, quit drinking it and got out of a bad situation.

Chris Johnson and the Defense led that team to the playoffs despite coach Wells. Last night was one of the worst coaching performances I have ever witnessed. First of all, Reid Sharp is the fastest player on that team and the only RB with breakaway speed and he doesn't see the field because of politics. Yes, these are kids, but they should be given a chance to win. They recover a fumble with a little over 2 minutes left at midfield and Wells decides to run out the clock and crush their confidence. It was over after that. If coach Pebley and coach Bruce would have had the talent to work with that we have had over the last five years, we would have made the playoffs consistently. I guess some of these parents are worried that if there is a new coaching staff, the best players will be on the field.

I know for a fact that reid is the fastest. It's ridiculous that the coach didn't put him into the game any last night. especially when we were losing so bad in the 4th quarter. yes, i know he is a freshman, but so what? talent is talent. he is faster than all the running backs we have. and he can out lift, out bench, every one of them too. so if he has the talent and is good than why not play him??? and yes, he has to wait his turn, however, they could still work him into some plays. it's ridiculous they didn't.

I do believe Sharp should at least be seeing some special teams action. He looked great against Jacksboro last year.

None of you know why Reid isn't playing right now. All you can do is speculate and say it's because of politics. First of all maybe a tenth of it is because he's a freshmen. I don't know how many posts I read before this year how wet behind the ears that freshmen are and they don't know squat. Now everyone has changed their tune and is saying who cares if they are freshmen. There are 4 freshmen that play varsity. I'm going to just say it like it is...some of you on the Reid wagon might be family..........nothing personal intended.
First I'm going to say that if you go back and read all of my post out of my 618 post I have never said anything bad about Reid. I have been the one here to say..I think he can be better than Chris if he will keep his nose clean! He is my son's best friend. They refer to themselves as thunder and lightening. Reid with his remarkable speed and vision, Keenan with his pound you in your face. Right now Reid is having problems learning the plays. That is the biggest thing keeping him off the field. He has been frustrated to the point that he has contemplated quitting. Rhino talked to him and told him don't quit! Your time is coming. Now I don't care who you are if you don't know what to do on the field you can't be out there. That gives the other team even more advantage than they already have. Reid was gone the day they ran their 40's. I know he is way faster than they even think he is. I agree in the 4th quarter...Reid should have been on the field. But I can tell you that Reid not playing has NOTHING to do with who he is. If anything that is only going to help him. His reputation precedes him. If Reid will learn his plays backward and forward...you will see Reid on the field! I for one can't wait to see Reid progress as he matures and gets bigger. He will only get better!

If you are waiting for Reid to actually know what he is doing on the field to be playing, well then, with this coaching staff, he will never be on the field. Because they, the coaching staff, do not know what they are doing. So how can they, again, the coaching staff, possibly expect the kids to know what they are doing.
Folks, you watch what I have said all along, it will only get worse, not better. Someone told me this morning, maybe that bunch of parents that pulled the stunt they pulled last year and got the basketball coach fired will do it again with the football coach.

Did any of you ever think that it is just too hard for cchs to compete in 5A sports now adays. Reid will get a chance to play when he and there ready. You say there is only 4 freshman dressing varsity? I think thats great. I played in the days when we had 16 players, TOTAL!!!!! Geez how many freshman are starting for Oak Ridge, Maryville, Fulton, alcoa.......not many I would say. I think its great that we have enough kids to play that we dont have to throw a good freshman to the wolves. He may be fast, but guess what? so are the kids on the other side of the ball, and there probably bigger and stronger and upper classmem. There 1-1, I remember when we would have took that after 2 games. I said on another post that they would probably win 3 games this year and if they catch a couple people on bad nights , who knows. Orangewashed, you sound like someone that has been or feels like they have been screwed by the coaches up there or had a family member that was screwed over or something. Have you ever been to a practice they are running up there? I mean I played up there and they look a heck of a lot better organized than we were and we won 4 games back in the day. I mean whats up with you?

Oh yea , and the quitting to get the coach fired? I cant beleive this place. I mean it may have been time for Pierce to move on but I as a supertendant would have never fired him until the boys that Quit graduated. That was a bad deal and for you to even suggest that for the football program is rediculous! All they did was tell those kids that when they get in the real world and they get a boss that they dont like they should go over his head and get him fired. And I do know what i am talking about on this one becuase my son played three years for Len and still calls him once in a while when things arent going good for him and Len has encouraged him and told him to stay put. I mean that was a stupid statement!
