This makes me think of the democrats and republicans debating over the Iraq war. The reason is because the democrats say they always support the troops no matter what. But, the problem is the commander and chief. they want a regime change. Republicans on the other hand say they support the troops and the commander and chief no matter what. and if you attack the commander and chief it's like you are attacking the troops or being unpatriotic. so, some are saying i support the team no matter what >>> like a republican. while others are saying we support the team, but we want a regime change (new coaching). thought it was an interesting observation. Yeah, that's pretty sharp there, sharpie.

Come on over, the water is fine.
Kool-aid and blind sheep are for communes, not following a coach that is just going to lead the team to ineptness. We all know by now there are some pretty good players on that team, they need a pretty good coach to lead them. That is just what they do not have.
I would like to make a point, by the time that thunder and lightning and some of those other kids from LaFollette and some of those boys from Jacksboro also, from last year, get to their times to be productive players, many will have already quit the program or just so disdained, they will just be going through the motions. Folks, we need a coach that can lead these kids to prosperity instead of leading them into disillusionment and/or running them off because of his ineptness.
I was listening to Johnny and Mike on the radio, even Johnny was saying about a couple of plays called, "that play did not work last week, it hasn't worked all year, it is time to throw that play out of the playbook".
You can either put down the kool-aid and come on over or wait for the potential talent that we have in the waiting to just fade away because so many blind sheep want to turn there head and say everything is wonderful because you have so much blind loyalty to the program.

I have to agree orangewashed. It's time for a change!
We have a total of ten fresman listed in 2007 program guide. You can't tell me only 10 players moved up to high school from the two middle schools this year. What happened to the rest of these player. Did they go to other schools? More successful programs? Could be!
We only have twelve Sophomores.
I know of at least two parents that have boys that will be moving into CCHS in the next few years. They both say that as long as the board continues with this program their boys will be going to another school.
In the next two years we will lose thirty players to graduation. Compaired to the sign up rate we're losing ground.
Don't get me wrong I'm a Cougar fan, love to watch the games, and feel in my heart these boys have a fighting chance if they were properly coached. But look out there, some of the boys can't even do a good three point stance...that's a lack of fundemental coaching skills.
I may even think of other schools if my young son shows intrest and some skill in the game. Can you blame me?
If something dosen't change in this football program we won't have to worry about if we are going to win or lose. We'll have to worry about having enough players to even field a team.

We have 24 freshmen. There is approximately 63 players. Compare that to `03 I think, when we had what they called "The dirty thirty" We have more than doubled since then. Maybe if we are comparing our team to Powell with their 95 players then we are slipping. They had a small football nation! Which is the norm for Knox teams. But overall we have good numbers if you're comparing to past CC teams.

I maybe wrong, and I hope for the team I am. But the numbers you mentioned are not the same number that our printed roster shows. It lists about 51 players. And I counted no more than 15 freshman at the begining of season. We have lost a few.

Actually we have gained a few since the season. We have had 2 or 3 start this last week. There are always more that start after summer workouts. For what ever reason. The numbers I gave you are pretty accurate. You can't go by the program. The numbers in there are not right. We have around 45 that dress varsity. And as of yesterday we had 24 freshmen.

when i played my senior year we only had 7 seniors and like 30 some odd players on the whole team same things from my freshman year on, and that was under a coach that was not from here and supposed to the savior of the program and ended up only winning 4 games in 4 years of high school.
the problem around here is not coaching it that the kids are lazy. plain and simple. im not talking about the players. im talking about their classmates. they are lazy they dont wanna play football because they dont wanna put the time into it, they automatically asume they are gonna lose if they, but they dont realize that they are losers they are the reason this community and sports programs suck (them and lynn pierce).
The school board needs to inact a law that says all students must participate in after school, school funded activity like. the other school districts have.

Numbers change daily. I asked a player last week and he said 15 freshman.
Anyway, does anyone know how many 8th grade football layers left for high school last year?

Actually numbers don't change daily. We haven't had that many quit since the season started. But we have had a few start. During summer workouts there were approximately 12 freshmen that worked out through the summer that had committed from the start. There were 7 from LMS and 5 from JMS. The second day of school they offered sign ups. Many started that day. And like I said we have 3 new players just this last week.

The picture you paint is alot different than the one I see and hear about from the players and other parents. Granted I haven't been to as many pracitces lately and haven't had the chance to see any of the Freshman games. I do know that the coach is asking juniors to fill in on the other teams.....
And even if we do have the numbers. With the talent we have on the field we should have a more succesful team. And that boils down to one thing.

We only have a freshmen/JV team. They did combine both. We play one game not two. I have been to every game. And if you want to know for sure come watch yourself. We have one junior that played with them yesterday. And he is one of them that just started. Coach is getting him some playing time. We do have have few sophomores that play but most are freshmen. A little note...this junior could be starting varsity right now if he had started a long time ago. He's a tough player and played in the past.

There are a number of tough players out there, do bad the coaching isn't up to par with the players. Remeber the players are only doing what they are told...

You know with the coaching aside...There are two kinds of players....there are the ones that go out there and bust their hump and aren't afraid to be hit or to hit! Then there are the ones that run from contact would rather wear the uniform sit on the sideline and say, I play football! When I say this junior is tough that is what I was referring to. He will get in there and mix it up. He had some kill shots and took them all! That is something that is inside the player. Want to, drive and determined to be their best.
