reid told me today about 12 players quit... i dont' know if that number is exact... but, nevetheless, yeah... not that many freshman are playing compared to the number of middle school players. he is wanting to transfer to another school already and told me lots of people have advised him to do so.... i agree w/ cougardad fundamentals are not being taught at all.... cambell county is expanding and i think ppl want to take pride in our community, with that said we really really need a winning program. but, i support the cougars nevertheless... 3 freshmen quit yesterday because big Luke decided he wanted to quit after being on the teem for hmmm about a week. And when he quit there were a couple that went because he did. No other reason. I could tell the reason he started last week in the first place but I won't go there right now. Sharpie I don't know if you ever played or not but...... You have to be at practice all week to play in games. You can't be at one and think your entitled to play because of who you are. And that is exactly the case right now! One Practice? what are you talking about have i ever played at all? what does that have to do w/ my post??? one practice? what?? are you saying that im agreeing that reid should transfer cause he is not playing or something? if he is missing practice i didnt' know. my post dealt entirely w/ the numbers on the team, and i only said reid was wanting to transfer b/c it was about the posting of the number of players on the team, and some transferring and what not. I think he is just getting discouraged, and dont' know if he would transfer, but, i was just saying b/c it was related to the post and to the number of players on the team....

You made it seem like players were quitting due to coaches or coaching...they are quitting due to drama of their own making. Nothing to do with football. A lot of the upper classmen are really mad that this is going on....they want unity and dedication to the team and they aren't getting it from some.

With players leaving the team during the off week. It seems that the Cougars LOST to Open Date.
And for the kids that hang in and work hard and want the best for the program, it is a shame that some of the others shed a bad light on the whole program.
Whether you like the coaches or not, it is just not right to quit on your team-mates. Those that quit should not be allowed to return next year is my opinion. There should be a penalty for quitting your team-mates.

Wow! ow that is the first thing that you said that I totally agree with! That is exactly how the team feels. The one upper classmen that quit early in the season did want to come back and the team voted (No). And they set the standard then...Don't quit on the Cougars!

I agree that if someone quits, they should not be allowed to play next year. I also think that those who transfer should not be on here giving advice to our Cougars. That being said, Reid carried that LaFollette team last year to a very good season and he should at least see the field at some point in the game.
Pat, I know players have been taught the fundamentals at Jacksboro for years, but something happens at the high school level that I can't explain.
Sharpie, you forgot that Cougar Vixen is an expert on Campbell County football. Please don't question her knowledge. She is at every practice and she knows who belongs on the field.

I absolutely mean no offense to Cougar Vixen here, but I disagree with your assessment, cougaralum. Just because someone is at every practice does not mean they know who should be playing.
Let me explain, it takes 5 , 6 or 7 coaches participating in practice and watching film to sit in discussion to determine who should be and who should not be playing. One person sitting in the stands watching could not possible determine that in my opinion. That one person could be watching 1, 2 or 3 players and give a good opinion on them, but not the whole team.
As far as Reid playing, unless he is just not giving effort, I think I would agree with you. I have heard that he tends to take an attitude and maybe take a play or two off if things are not going his way. Cougar Vixen, is there any truth to that opinion of him that was given to me? Other than that, I would like to know, is there anyone on the team, upper class-man or not, faster than Reid? The boy is physically fit and has the speed to run the ball. Like it has always been said, speed kills, but he needs some speed around him to get him around the end or wherever to be able to use that speed.

First of all cougarlum...No one carried the team anywhere last year by themself! ow cougarlum is trying to be smart......... I never said I was at every practice (or any for that matter) and that I knew who should be playing. I haven't given my opinion as to who should be or shouldn't be playing. Because I'm not at practices and haven't got a clue. I do know that some players are not coming to practices and everyone doesn't know that. But they all feel they are getting the bad end of the deal. If you want to play I would think that you would be at practices. Just like in the real world you don't show up for work you get fired! You don't show up for practices, you don't play! You try to convince the upper classmen that someone that doesn't come give the same time that they are that they should be playing. Keenan is mine and I can attest to how many practices he has attended. He didn't miss one summer work out and hasn't missed one practice. Some days did he not feel like going, sure! Did he go anyway, you bet! Not because he was made but because that is his work ethic. You go talk to some of the upper classmen and ask them how they feel about all of this and I'm sure they will tell you.

That went way over my head.
From prior experience, I know that Cougar Vixen does not like to be made fun of or poked at. So, I looked at it as serious. So I decided to take the "be nice" approach and treat the statement towards her as serious.
You know, the last thing that I want is to create controversy or offend anyone on here.

You are right, I should not have gone there. I apologize. I do not mind admitting when I am wrong, and in this case, my statement was just unnecessary.
Like the Rafiki said in the Lion King, "It's in the past, what does it matter."

We must have been watching two different LaFollette teams last year. Without Reid, they may have won 2 games. Defenses set their schemes to stop him and they still couldn't do it. I think if they would have run him to the outside more, they would not have lost a game. If there is anyone on the team faster than Reid on the field, I haven't seen it. There are some good backs on the team, but they just don't have the breakaway speed that Reid does. I still believe its politics as usual up there. The last thing I want is to see him transfer. I really think he can be as good or better than Johnson in the next few years, but I don't think these coaches are going to give him a chance.

OK....I played football with reid last year..And I admit he was good..but there were 10 more players besides reid on the field. Me and reid were the leaders and WE did help carry the team..And there is no reid in team..And this year..Only 3 people have quit...Reid,Duran,And Luke..they chose to quit..Luke walked in there and said..Who wants to quit with me..Reid and duran answered pretty fast..They chose to quit..No one ran them off..I was there..so quit critizing the coaches and other players...life of a freshman football player is hard...So wat...Suck it Up and go on..I am..it really aint that bad anymore...It was their decisoin I was there...I heard every bit of it...And 12 people have not quit..12 people have joined the team 3 Quit..and I have talked to reid myself..the reason he dont play is cuz he dont know the plays..and if he comes back..Freshman life is goin to be a day at the beach for reid....He has quit 2 and the COACHES let him come back...So let him do wat he wants..If he transfers...Transfer him to a school we play...
