Playthegame, you may have hit the nail on the head with your comments about not being able to find a new coach. I will give you a little history lesson on the way Len Pierce became the coach again at CCHS. When they were looking for a new coach they offered it to all the usuall suspects and they all said NO. They then went to Len and he saidNO. They then went to a couple coaches in Claiborne county and they said NO. then back to Len, NO. they then asked a couple of coaches in Knoxville if they or anyone they knew might want the job and they laughed and said NO. They then went back to Len and asked him what it would take to take the job back cause they couldnt find anyone, and he told them and they agreed and the rest is history. Beleive me, Len wont miss it a bit and it will be a releif to him. He used to be a good coach with alot of passion, but he coached for so long and so hard he got burnt out and really didnt want the job and it showed. To coach and do a good job at the high school level you have to have the dedication and obligation to your kids to get them to college. this would include films, dvds, letters, emails, whatever it takes. So you better be prepared to spend a lot of time away from your family.just some thoughts one job requirement is for the coach to get his players ready for college...well that tells me that most HS coaches are failures...very few HS players move on to the next level (and I dont mean rec league ball)...trust me that is not a job requirement..maybe get players ready to compete at th HS level...

It's time to stand up people of Campbell County and take back the power that rightfully belongs to you. We can fuss and complain and fuss and complain but until we act on something ... nothing will happen. Please remember that the school board members work for us ... someone somewhere down the line forgot to tell them that! Let's take back our county! If anything, let's do it for the children. The people did, that is why we are successful in obtaining a new coach.

Thank You parentofathelete. So many rumors but not one of you on this board know the truth except for the "runaways", Len, Green, Seale, the parents, and Central office. Even Peblee only hears what is said to him at CCHS. (Not a knock on you peeblee). All the truth is not out there but many rumors on both sides are. Fact remains that Len is gone and we need a new coach that is not involved with any of this mess and build a program that has been hurting for many, many years. WE HAVE NOT BEEN COMPETITIVE in high school basketball for a long time and I refuse to believe that athletes from other schools are better than here at Campbell County. Look at the replacements...many were good and yet they didn't play until this mess took place. We have to stop bickering about who likes Len and who doesn't and get the school board to get the right individual to bring this all together.

Peeblee, Your right about them not moving on to play ball, and i should have been more clear i guess. I should have said help get them into college period, weather to play ball or be a student. Your coaches have so much influence on your life that if they keep telling you to go to college and get a good education you can come and coach someday. But you are right.

Guys, I have to say this. Its a shame the way the Len pierce thing was handled period! no matter what side of the fence your on. He was the coach and coached for a long time, even when they couldnt find a coach, he coached. I played for him and my son played for him , some of the things i do now as a coach, he taught me, so lets not dog him out on here he does deserve some respect. thanks

After reading the article in the news sentinel yesterday I immediately flipped to the jobs section and I am glad to see we at least have it posted for people outside to look at. I have a feeling that is all they will do though is look at it.

The bright side is, once the district is over we will all save lots of money on tickets/gas/food etc. Once district is over at high school level he was ALWAYS one and done. Then went to middle school level, and again one and done. BUT Seale was happy, look at the money he saved on bus costs! district and region tournament teams get a per centage of teh gate according to how many games the teams played...more games played =more money from gate receipts...not a case of money save because of travel expenses...

On earlier threads last december I did not always agree with you peeblee but I have come around some. I just want what is best for the kids and I have a feeling the admin and central office just doesn't always get it because they are not a coach or an athelete and do not know the commintment many kids have put in for many years leading up to high school. We need fresh blood, that's for sure. No it did not go right on both sides but both sides should have been able to clear this up before such a scandalous ruchus. May God Bless Pierce, ALL the atheletes at Campbell County, the administration, the School Board, the Parents, and Dear Dr. Blevins. (Everyone falls short of the Glory...)Now lets do this right and get a coach that can freshen up our lagging basketball program and help these kids enjoy their high school years as it should be. I hope we can get someone who is not from so everyone can start out fresh and new.
