[ Hunley is a very good coach...and besides he has had some winning seasons at LMS in recent years...and Pierce had one when? quote] Well, that is a streatch to call Hunley a "very good coach". I did not play for him, but talk often to many who did. The most talent by far to come through under Hunley was the Bubba Miller/Jacob Finstead/Faulkner bunch then also Matt Henegar/Joe Whited/John Heatherly/David Friend etc. If you ask very many members of those teams who coached the teams you may be surprised. And ask them about discipline? And asked who was with them in practice while he was out trading/hauling cattle. But he is a nice guy.

There are alot of opinions both ways on Hunley. I like Rick and think he is a good coach. He was blessed with tons of talent over the years at the high school and the middle school. He learned basketball from one Robert "Teach" Petrey and he was probably the best and most underrated coach in the county. Anybody who I have talked to that played for Teach swore by him and his system.

cougarorangeandblue.........
You know I'm not here to promote Hunley. Just commented on something someone had said. My son did play for Hunley at one time....and none of that went on that you are saying. I know...cause I know ALL that my kids do and where they are and who is with them! And that list of players if they were coached by Hunley....kind of oxymoron to say anything negative about him and those guys in the same sentence. My son probably won't bother with basketball when he gets to the HS ....will be playing football and probably baseball.

Keenan should be throwing in track instead of baseball.

I really looked at this as a situation where (if info is true) we have a chance to look for a real coach rather than another member of the buddy system. I am afraid we may let this oppertunity slip. But glad your son had a positive experience.

And I do agree that there should be some kind of search for a coach, out of Campbell County......I said that a few boards ago. But they will do what is the easiest way for them.

The bright side is, once the district is over we will all save lots of money on tickets/gas/food etc. Once district is over at high school level he was ALWAYS one and done. Then went to middle school level, and again one and done. BUT Seale was happy, look at the money he saved on bus costs!

Well I guess whoever the coach is , will be coming into a pretty good situation. He will be blessed with upperclassman and a couple of good freshman. You have to remember as good as the players were that quit , they were still just sophmores. They will probably win some games and everyone will say wow we needed a new coach! and that will be fair i guess, but what if they dont win all the games everyone thinks they will? Will we want another change? Will people say well maybe it wasnt Len? Maybe these guys arent as good as we thought ? who knows. I do know with the right coach the group that quit , mixed with the replacements coming back can be very good. Maybe second or third in the district the next two years. Dont want to make anyone mad, because it was probably time for a change, but the names I see on here are not the answer, only a short term fix. Just some thoughts

Thanks AE, I know u and i know u love basketball. I also know u werent done right up there cuase you couldve played and helped during this rough time. I know it kills you as it does me to see people come to cchs and laugh and cut up on our floor. I remember when teams used to dread coming to cchs, cause win or lose they were in for a fight and it didnt matter who the coach was cuase we had heart out there and took it personally.
