I just have to say....I have a sophomore....and if she has a problem with a coach or even a teacher.....you say...parents stay out of it! That's bull crap....if she has a problem I'M GOING DECIDE...not my 16 year old!! When it comes to an adult that has anything to do with ANY of my kids....right here I am...your going through me....not one of my kids!!
What's wrong with you people that are saying leave it to your kid and stay out of it? It that what you do...or is that what your parents did? Until my kids are 18...THEY ARE MY BUSINESS! I would love for someone to stand in my face and tell me....let your kid take care of it...lol....First of all I"M the parent!!! But even if you factor in the little life lessons they should learn...if is has to do with someone that is over the age of 18....it's a lesson I"M taking care of!!! That's what's wrong with this world today...kids trying to be grown ups...and grown ups acting like kids!!!

Does anybody understand what im saying?...im not saying "leave your kid alone....hes good on his own"....NO....all im tryin to make clear is if your child has a problem with the coach go about it in the right way. Not stabbing a man in the back. Having "Secret" meeting at churches and plan to cut a mans throat....

This isnt about the boys not talking with the coach and administration about their problems!! Parents did. When they told pierce what they wanted him to do, he stayed with his own coaching style, not theirs. Everyone has talked with these parents and heard them out!! The fab 7 cult members have made threats to coaches, and administration. If they dont get their way they will personally see L. Pierce, J. Pierce, Seal and Blevins fired, and dismiss all board members who do not agree with their opinion. OPINION is the key word here. U cannot leagally fire coaches who do not agree with your opinion on how things are to be run. Parents do have a say, but not a dictatorship for the whole county to bend to the will of these 7. There are other students and families involved besides them. It is not ethical to force all these people (and ruin many families lives) to get their way. Selfishness , pride and arrogance are not becoming to a preacher and his flock. Do what u have to for ur kids, but do it in the right way.

Owlsqbmama- Comparing school and basketball are like apples and oranges. "i hate using old phrases". A kid has no choice but to go to school and the parent is responsible for making sure that he or she does. If there is something at school that is hindering her learning process, then I commend you for being involved. A basketball player chooses to try out. Coach P cares and always has. He just does things his way and that is the way it is. Now, that may be the wrong type of coach for some to play under. He is definately not a players coach.
As for "fight the power"- Going about it the right way doesn't seem to work here. I like em both, but do you really think one Pierce (Athletic Director-if he still is) is going to fire another (b-ball coach), and if you know Coach P, then you know you can't really talk to him about playing time..... Of course, I don't think players or parents should do that anyway.

They originally took the right steps, but their severe demands did not match the problems. It would cost the taxpayers money if they fired a coach mid-season for not playing the style ball the parents want. Playing time and fussing are not grounds to dismiss a coach. Maybe beating a child or giving them supplements but not this.

Hey fight the power. were did you get your info ? the player you spoke of that lived beside adult world was picked up and brought to practice but not by Coach P. and you say that Coach p and Coach R are the same? who has a winning record? Coach Mike has won more games in 2 years at LMS than Coach p has won in the last 5 at CCHS. facts can sometimes become fiction, the truth is sometimes a lie, everyone paints a different picture . but the numbers you can't deny----- 44-113 over the past 5 years........... 89-153 career is not a winning coach.  but let me guess someone had it out for coach and lost a bunch of the games on purpose. or better yet the school board had the tssaa change his lifetime stats to get him in trouble. it doesn't matter who the coach is if they only win 5 -7 games a years they need replaced, if you have a down year that can be expected but when you have a down half decade something is not right , how can all the middle school teams have winning programs year in and year out. compete with all the Knox schools and win. i know that coach p has many fans, but there is also a lot of fans that like to win, i for one am not willing to except excuses about why we cant win more that 5 games a year, If minton doesn't hit the last second shot against Clinton do you know what would have happened? loss #8 ...we had a 3 point lead with 3 minutes left and went into the stall? 2 steals and a free-throw later we were down by 2 with 4.6 seconds left!!!! not a smart coaching move.. after leading the entire second half we are now trailing by 2. i was happy for minton when he hit that shot. but we should have never had to hit . poor coaching = few wins |

Corey shouldnt of had it on his shoulders. ur right u guys abondoned him , green and the whole county!! As far a Reynolds is concerened he decient but stirring up all this trouble will not look good on his resume. He is very bias in his opionions and his lafollette crew.

NICE POSTS FROM EVERYONE ON HERE. THE BOTTOM LINE IS THAT IF YOU CAN'T COACH A TEAM TO AT LEAST A .500 WINNING RECORD OVER 9 YEARS. THEN YOU NEED TO TRY COACHING SOMETHING ELSE. MY LAST COUNT WAS 19 FOR COACH P, AND 24 AGAINST HIM ON THE POLL. SEEM THERE IS A LARGE GROUP CALLING FOR THE COACHES HEAD. CAN YOU SMELL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING?  ? |

Hey, i'm sure Coach P could have won a couple of more games each year, but there just hasn't been any good players in 5 years. When he came back in 99, everyone was young, and wasn't very good. Sub-state team two years later. 02-to present either no talent or young talent that jumped ship to early.

I think not. Does Cumberland Gap have players jump ship to CC. We have a problem. At some point in time it has to be addressed. |
