;)i don't involved in all the aspects of who he has coached .. i know that of the 7 who left he coached 4 of them as head coach at LMS... a few others that left the team earlier this season also played for Him i have been told. From what i can gather he is very approachable , actually talks to parents, involved in grades , picks kids up for practice, makes away for them to get to games, feeds them. makes sure they stay busy at the rec center( keeps them out of trouble) and he runs a tight ship. not afraid to get in a players grill. from what i have been told and seen he coaches a high octane team, likes to press and cause turnovers. fun bunch to watch.. he would be a fresh new face in cougar land. . a Vic King disciple!!!!

have to agree with a previous post from someone.... what do we have to lose by getting a new coach? Coach P is 44-113 over the past 5 years. there has had to be better talent than that at the school in half a decade..... get a new coach and if he or she wins only 50 games in 5 years then it maybe a lack of talent. but what did we really lose? new face same result? why not try to make cchs bball a force to be feared again? I am sure a few coug fans would love even a 15 game winning season, which by the way is 3 times more that lasts year team. and nothing against the team i watched them many times, some good kids, but it was like coach wasn't coaching to win, he was coaching not to lose. and put the boys in some difficult situations in some games we by all rights should have won. in my odds last years team should have won between 12-15 games.. should he be replaced now? no way the season has started, but this should be his brett favre year, the game has pasted him by. thanks for all your service and memories , his style is out of style... like the plaid shirts of the 80's

Have known Mike for several years and stat guy described Mike very well. I am glad that my son had several season's to be coached by Mike. He has excelled and progressed much under his direction. He would be an excellent coach to bring the cougar nation back to basketball prominence.

It probably comes back to the same thing, fundamentals while players are young. I really don't know if we have had that taught correctly since Vic King, which hurts me to say. Mike may be good. He also may have been lucky enough to coach good players.
As I said before, I don't think Coach Pierce is the greatest coach ever, but there hasn't been winning talent at CCHS in five years.
Now, I know someone is going to say there has been, but there hasn't. The players that left this year have potential winning talent, probably just not this year. Too young.
Who's fault is it that our players aren't as good? Genetics? I think it has to do with the fall of our Junior Pro competition.

Who's fault is it that our players aren't as good? Genetics? I think it has to do with the fall of our Junior Pro competition. You know I have said many times....I think the talent is still there in our schools.....and they choose not to play! Like Paul Provins for example .....he chose to play ball...if he hadn't that would have been one less talent that we would have had. For example...The fasted man in the world...how do we know he's the fastest man in the world? Has he ran against EVERY man in the world? No...he's just the fastest man that chose to run! We have many kids in our schools that are awesome at basketball. When Brandon Berry was in the 8th grade..he played on a Jr.Pro team that I helped coach...he didn't want to play school ball...I told him every day...You have got to play school ball! He did play and was a great asset at LMS and CC. But he still didn't have the confidence in himself to excel further. If he would have been told earlier and believed in himself...there is no telling what he could have done.

Yea, i agree who knows, if they don't play. Of course, we aren't talking high school at that point. There are only a few players that weren't good in middle school that turn out being great high school stars. So, we should know quickly who our next big talents are.
Is Brandon Berry that little guard that played a few years ago?
Worked at Woodsons?

Yes, that is him....and my husband and myself went and picked him up for most games. He was a good kid but didn't have a parent backing him.

Yea, he seemed like a nice guy. Limited with his height and I believe shot the ball a little low. Wasn't a bad little point guard though.
It would be nice if we could take players like that and mold them into a college type player.
Maybe we'll get there someday.

Wouldn`t you know it? All this time I heard that coach King saw Brandon playing in phys ed class and encouraged him to try out in the spring. Even heard he scheduled "after school" tutor for him so he could be eligible to play in fall. Sorry, I guess my information was incorrect. Good job owlmomma.

The heighth I can't argue...but he could literally fly...like a bird! I haven't seen a little white guy that can jump and soar like he could. The point I was making...was he probably started playing bball when he could get himself there...the rec...but if a parent took interest way before that....

Well, I don't know bout all that...Vic was the PE teacher then....I just know that I encouraged him on many occasions to play school ball. I'm sure Vic did, too...if he had seen him play. He could play all over the boys that played Jr.Pro.

Ok people just a little info for some of you. I have been a close friend to many players and former players on the CCHS bball squad. All the things you mentioned about Mike Reynolds can be said about coach Pierce. Len is not afriad to get in a players face. he cares about the players more than any coach ive seen. One player told me that one of the "fab 7" lived behind Adult World....with no liscense....so u no what happened, Coach pierce drove every night and made the round trip to his house and back. The only difference between Pierce and reynolds is that Coach Pierce does not have his own Posse to turn and cry to when things dont go his way (the Rev) let Reynolds at the high school level and we will see how sweet he will be to the parents.....another thing i have heard over the past days is that some of the X parents/coach wants ALL now CCHS bball players GONE (including MItton and Green) and the good-ol-boys back........is this right.....ill leave that to you
