you read the paper correctly, only there were a number of untruthes in the article ... i wish i had the article in front of me to give you the facts on each one .... if your interested, i can later... i do know that the first mistake was saying there were 9 players who didn't show, it was actually seven. also, i know the minton family very well .... arnold and poteet did go to hospital .. not sure why since it seems to me that they were BIG contributing factors to his injury ... had cory not had to try to pick up the slack for the no-shows, he may not have been injured the way he was (i was at the game, were you?) .. furthermore, the paper didn't mention anything about coach pierce, his daughter, grandson and grandaughter being at the hospital and even further .. cory's house later that night .... as far as the win lose ratio, it can be figured up by percentages ... when that is done and when you look at pierce's entire career, it's not so bad .... than do the same for football, baseball, etc and see what those win/lose percentages are for those coaches. i personally think there needs to be a few retractions made .... the people of campbell county depend on the paper to be accurate.

Arnold and Poteet had nothing to do with the injury. That is just an unfortunate event. Whose to say that if the 7 were still playing that night that one of them wouldnt have gotten hit. Its asinine to try to say that those two had ANYTHING to do with Mitton's injury. JuJuan Smith sprained his wrist and hip in the Memphis game, was it because someone didnt show up? I dont remember the guys exact name, but one of the Florida receivers broke his femur (thigh bone) on a kick return in the Tennessee game last year, was that because someone didnt show up? You have made alot of great posts, some what one sided and a bit dreamy, but mostly valid. Dont frig it up by sayin something as stupid as that.

Look, Im NOT against the kids, Im against the coach. I would be there if I could at every game, no matter who was coaching. I dont cheer for the coach, I cheer for the players, no matter who they are. Ive heard from the horse about the 7's side, and from one of the current players. Both stories match up with each other, and I can understand why the 7 quit, as well as the player that is still on the team can to. He just didnt feel comfortable letting the rest of the team down. I never have really read the Press either, they are a terrible source. When they have the radio on at work is the only time I listen from that.
Just understand, I support the school and the players, just not the coach.

I had three high school students and two teachers tell me they saw first hand a couple of "the7" giving a few of the new players a hard time at school because they had tried out, made the team, happy about it etc. I know they are teenagers, but what's the deal with that???

If that is the case they need to be punished for bullying. For that matter they are stealing by not turning in their uniforms, they are property of the school.

Lmsqbcoach, I disagree, Pierce has tried at times to press and get in your face, but when you cannot guard anyone example [powell] it is hard to press. He tried it their way, didnt work, tried it his way against west and oliver springs and they won!!!! Besides I do not think you can press against a good high school basketball team.

I don't really care about the semantics of it. The fact of the matter is that I respect what those boys have done, right or wrong. I enjoy watching them play more than I enjoy watching them not play. The mention by someone earlier about building talent up instead of driving it down applies here.

starter I agree totally with that comment. How the heck are you going to successfully press someone when you don't have the athletes to do it with. You have to play the type of ball your players are capable of playing. If you are not quick and athletic how in the world to you expect to press someone. Is there anybody on the team that can dunk? From what I've seen they are just not that athletic.
