Vic was a great ball coach and a life coach as well, he knew his kids and took interest in their life on and off the court, that is what a real coach does.

No BBmama...the board etc. wants Pierce to step down, or Seale to recomend a change...neither will happen. If the board moves to replace Pierce then they will set themselves up for a lawsuit. The recomendation has to come from Mr. Seale, and I do not think that will happen. Those kids' season is over.

If Peirce doesnt step down, the boys will not play again until AAU. If Peirce steps down, looks for Hunley to finish the season, but NOT become the new coach.
Pat, if you want to talk to the boys, every single one of them was down at the Rec today about 4. Probably be there again next Wed. at the latest, maybe even tomorrow. These guys are staying together even through this, and are at the same time staying active.

Surely Rick would only be the interim coach...he's a great guy, but his teams did have some discipline issues. He did win, and he may deserve a second chance...they were at least exciting to watch.

Pierce was having tryouts again this afternoon. Doesn't look like that he's going to change things himself. I don't think it's that he can't take a hint. I think that he doesn't want to and really doesn't care.

Wow, where to start...I do hope these kids can right the ship, but not for Coach Pierce. Don't get me wrong i really like the MAN, but I am not so sure I like the coach anymore. His W/L is awful over the past couple seasons, there is a reason we only have 1 sr. but I don't know what, and the athletic development is not there either. Kids are not improving the way they should in a good H.S. program. The championships to which you refer had amazing talent. Pierce had little to do with it...Joe Caroll, Kermit Marlow, Paul Provins, John Garner and company were a special group. What has Coach P done without such talent? I mean the second five in that era could have beaten the 2000 team with ease, so could many of Hunley's teams. Like I said I really like Lynn Pierce...I always have...heck he taught me how to throw the bird when I was 3, but I am afraid he is either not the coach he used to be OR never was great to begin with.

well i agree with both redhound and cougarfan1. first of all kids these days are harder to coach because of all the extracurricular activities. such as cell phones, "computers and video games. i was around and part of the hunley era and we did not want those things. all we wanted to do was "play ball". and until someone shows these kids that what it takes to get there, we will never be very competive. now saying that i do think we as a community need to get off the couch on tuesday and friday nights and support coach pierces and coach chapmans teams.

I agree that Pierce isn't the answer...however...I don't think Reynolds is also. If we use the argument that he coached these kids since elem school what about after they graduate? Is he still gonna have that fire to coach kids he has never coached. I think hiring Reynolds would be a short term answer to a long term problem! CC reminds me of the Univ of Alabama! The school is really inbred. A coach can only be a coach if he has ties to the school!! Why not go after somebody who has never even heard of CC!
