oh, I am for the truth and you just opened a can of worms. Rick left because he asked for the same supplement(pay) the other coaches were getting. the Admin said no. rick said it was not fair and he just would leave then, they hired Len at the pay that Rick had asked for. POLITICS? Here in Campbell County? Why I never heard of such nonsense. Want to know more? Ask central office who was getting paid this year to coach a team and wasn't even coaching that team. Therein lies the character, spirit, community involvment, and dedication of Campbell County's Administration to the school of Campbell County. Like someone previously said from a movie Attitude reflects Leadership

And that is your opinion. I believe that they took a stand for what they thought was right. The last sentence in your first post on this thread hinted that you might have had the same thought at that time. Is Pierce a bad coach? Not my place to say but it appears that he is not getting the job done at the moment and in most coaching situations there is no tenure. If enough pressure is applied something has to give, and I think I just heard something break.

Halls and Oak Ridge dont have Pierce as a coach. Pierce wasnt the coach when these kids were playing AAU, or Middle School, or Elementary, or Junior Pro. When you played, Im sure you guys were more motivated, so what was your combined record. I would just like to know for comparison.
Anytime you penalize a kid because of their parents expressing their opinion, that isnt right. Granted Pierce isnt the one making ALL the mistakes, but someone said earlier that the kids will always play harder when they have a coach they respect. Peirce really has nobodies respect right now.
If you want to make a case that Peirce shouldnt be fired or made to resign because of the motives of his players, then I'll make this comparison. 2 years ago, Tennessee had Buzz Peterson as a coach. I dont think anyone can question the motivation behind players like CJ Watson, Dane Bradshaw, Brandon Crump, Chris Lofton, and so on. I think in Petersons final season the Vols had 14 or 15 wins, not totally sure on that so if you want to you can check me. Anyway, the missed the tourney for the third consecutive year. The very next year, with the SAME players, and a NEW COACH and NEW PHILOSOPHY, Tennessee sweeps the eventual national champ, grabs the highest seed ever in the NCAA tourny, wins the SEC East, all because of a coaching change.
That may be a reach for comparison but just goes to prove that alot of times, motivation of the players isnt always the reason that a team loses. If you still think this, then tell me why Ron Zook was fired, why Wade Houston isnt at UT anymore, why did Miami fire Larry Coker, why doesnt coach K still coach football here, if the players are playing because they love the game, why is a 5-6 season a blimish, who should really care.
I dont really think that boycotting this game was the right thing to do, but at the same time I dont really think it was wrong either. These guys did what they thought was right, and what is happening now is exactly what needed to happen. Things are starting to surface about what goes on at practice and during the offseason.
Ive read everything that everyone is posting here, and everyone has made valid points. Except one person who stated they knew more than most or something like that, twcbaseball. I dont think you know as much as pretty much anyone else in this thread does, but thats another topic.
As far as their being 2 teams, thats not true. Mitton told the team to ignore Peirce after a locker room speech, so we know that he didnt respect him. Green wouldnt be able to sit out if he wanted to because his dad is an assistant. The freshman were brought in because it was a need to basis, so they really cant be considered here. Now tell me how there were 2 teams.

I can't believe we ageed on something, change is happening already. "Green" apples can spoil a whole bushel. His son has no place in this by the way. Johnathan played hard tonight. I am only mentioning the elder one.

Well Brucepearlforprez, I never claimed to be on any great squad at CC, but my teammates and I played inspired basketball. This team played hard until a certain coach quit. To me thats when the wheels came off. They are not used to anyone but him, but they should have adjusted.

These boys didn't just boycott one game, they are done until something changes. Then you can watch a completely different team take the floor and I don't mean players either.

I agree with that. Its the reasons that this coach quit that have us in the situation that we are now in though.

Have I missed something, because I think as long as Pierce is there those 7 are done.

Punishing players for the "sins" of their parents will do it real quick.

If I were a betting man, I would say that Pierce wont finish the season.

Interesting, if you are alluding to what I think you are, first of all he had no place asking Len to step down after a game, secondly this players playing time IMO deminished due to lack of production.
