BBMamma................it was not my intention to come here and upset anyone...........maybe i shouldnt have tried to help someone understand what is going on.......like i said it really isnt anything to me.
I am still not trying to upset you........however you dont know me and i dont know you so we should not throw things at one another..........bashing character and making accuasations......that is not the right thing to do and for that i apologize
Though i do not agree with you on some things i still respect your opinion and i feel that i deserve the same in return. Having a child who has has some athletic accomplishments himself, i do simpathicise with you. As parents we want it all for our children. But where i disagree with you is when you come here and basically call people by name and degrade them........there is no reason for this. I understand that you are hurt and disappointed, but this is not the right way to go about things.
The things that i have said are not lies .......i dont know where you got your information but i assure you i would not have said it if i didnt know for sure. My son was never promised anything.
These kids were told that they probably would be on the varsity team but you have to keep in mind that at that time no other children were interested in being on the team. The tryouts were in the spring and the teams were chosen from those who showed up for the tryouts. I am not taking up for the coach or anyone but i just dont see how he or his family members are responsible for that. They had no control over who showed up for tryouts.
Also, when school started, as you know a lot of other kids decided they would like to play bball and they had another tryout. That seems fair to me. I just dont understand why you are so bitter.............your child was chosen by this coach who you say has a problem with you .........and he is getting playing time......this is one of the best teams ever to play at LMS and your son as well as mine is part of it! That is a wonderful thing isnt it?

First of all I have to say....I have had kids playing basketball at LMS since my oldest in College was in sixth grade. The best boys team is not by far this one....the team that is on strike at CC is the BEST team that has played at LMS since my oldest son played there..... and he played and was a captain on varsity. NOt taking away from any of these boys including my own...but when you say TEAM and mean that word they are all sophomores at the hs this year. And I can call Dotson out by name because he did make it personal...do you understand that...he has made it personal! And the parent that I speak of..went to some members of the school board and literally saved his job that was GONE! I have coached basketball for many years....I know the rules...I know when some one's good and when they are not! When my son goes in for a minute here and a minute there....it is personal.....he was MVP at WLES..he still holds the 3pt record there for 8 in one game against JACKSBORO! I don't say that to say my son's the best on the team.....I say that because he CAN play basketball!! And he gets shafted because of something that has nothing to do with basketball. I can tell all that I know on here but so far have chose not to. |

no offense to anybody the team with cory minton, riley hunley and tim gibson were not to shabby.

no offense to anybody the team with cory minton, riley hunley and tim gibson were not to shabby. I totally agree, my son was the captain on that team! But when you talk team play....they didn't mesh like the sophs do! He was a year ahead of them so they had another season there when he left. |

Do you have to yell??? Okay..I've seen alllll the middle school teams play in the last 8 yrs ...... so you have 2 on me! What does that prove? |

I believe this can connect to all the things posted on this board.People fussing that their kid not getting enough playing time,i believe this refers to them wanting their son to have fame and glory.I think,"how can someone fuss about coach dotson not doing his job,in my opinion,HE is the coach and he has brought the owls this far." GO OWLS 8 & 0!!!!!!

So no offense owlsbbmama but do you think that just because your child was the best player on his elementary school team that he will always be the best player on the team? Many kids dont even play sports until middle school.

I do not want to disrespect anyones children. But....I once read an article that said the best athlete at the age of 8 is not always the best athlete at 18. So no offense owlsbbmama but do you think that just because your child was the best player on his elementary school team that he will always be the best player on the team? Many kids dont even play sports until middle school. Well, you know what....I can assure you...that he STILL can play ball! Sports is in his blood....we have been asked by other counties (plural) to transfer him for basketball and football. I'm not stupid....like I said a few times now...I HAVE coached for about 10 years now. I do know how to play basketball!!! And if he wasn't any good I think I might know!!! Everybody keeps say about my sons playing time....if you all would read my posts before you comment....you would know it is much deeper than playing time!!! So EVERYONE get off the playing TIME!!!!! And one more thing.... I don't recall saying he was the best player in elem. school!! |
