Some people say that they would rather win ugly than look good in losing. I think that kinda sums up last nights game at LMS. At times, they do some good things and look pretty solid and then there are times that they look absolutely awful. Fortunately for LMS, Robertsville didn't have any type of offense at all. There were five players on the floor for them and whoever had the ball at the time went and shot it. LMS needs to work on protecting the basketball and learn how to play with a lead. The most important thing is, they have to work together as a team and stop drifting into a one man game at times! Probably the best decision that I have seen this year so far was the starters for the second half. It was his more experienced and senior players. They took control of the game, but just as soon as they did, there was mass substitutions that clearly let RMS get back in the game. I don't know, I'm still trying to figure it out. There is just something about having more experienced players on the floor when it comes crunch time. There is a big difference most of time with an 8th grader and a 6th or 7th grader. That is an age when alot of kids make some huge steps physically and mentally. Owls are now 3 - 0!

I would like to respond to big blue AND HIS VIEW OF THE STARTERS AFTER THE SECOND HALF AND HOW HE THOUGHT IT WAS ALL ABOUT EXPERIENCE IN THE ROBERTSVILLE GAME. YOU CAN HAVE ALL THE EXPERIENCE YOU WANT BUT WITHOUT ATTITUDE AND THE HEART TO PLAY IT DOESN"T MEAN SQUAT. IT SEEMS THAT BIG BLUE MAY BE A JACKSBORO SUPPORTER WHO REALLY CAN NOT DECIDE WHO HE REALLY WANTS TO SUPPORT. ALSO BIG BLUE IF YOU ARE TRULY HONEST IN YOUR ASSESSMENT AFTER THE EXPERIENCED STARTERS WAS MAKING SOME MISTAKES IT WAS THE EXCEPTIONAL COACHING THAT ACKNOWLEDGED THAT AND MADE THOSE SUBSTITUTIONS AND PULLED AHEAD WITH THE LEAD. ONE THING WE HAVE THIS YEAR THAT WAS ABSENT LAST YEAR IS CONTROL FROM THE COACHING STAFF TO COACH AS A TEAM AND NOT TO COACH IN PLEASING A SELECT FEW PARENTS TO MAKE THEM HAPPY THAT THEIR KID IS GETTING PLAYING TIME. GO BIG ORANGE GO OWLS GO LMS COACHING STAFF!!!!!!!!!!

When all the inexperienced players were out there, they couldn't even stand up at times! You know after coaching a few years.....I've learned when something is working, DON'T (yelling) change it! And when you come down the floor say 3 times in a row and the other teams takes the same pass in the same spot...duh! that's when you change it! I have to say bigblue....to Mr. Orange....bigblue don't mean Jacksboro! Bigblue bleeds orange! And I would like to know one thing....orange?...where do you mistake heart for ( I ) I have seen to many to count ...LMS basketball games...and I have never seen such (me ) complex as I do on this...team! And exceptional coaching comes with experience...and then some never achieve that status!!!!!

Having your experienced players on the floor will not only help you in the long run because they know what to do in difficult situtations, but they may just teach the 6th and 7th graders what to do. Another thing I don't understand is why Lucas is playing point. He is by far the most talented player on the floor and your making him run the point? Put him on wing to where he can do what he does best...fill it up. He's the best shooter and I just don't understand the reasoning of making him run point.

Well as for having the more experienced players on the court..............I don't know about that. Most of the older kids havent played as long as the younger ones have. And the younger boys play "team" ball. When you have 5 boys on the court, you need them to play together. LMS coach obviously knows what he is doing...........after all check their record! And I agree with bigorange..........if the boys have the heart and attitude for basketball, nothing will stop them! Seems that LaFollette has a lot of young players with this passion for the game.

I would just like to comment that just because there are 8th graders on the LMS Basketball team doesn't mean they are the most experienced. Let me remind you that the 7th grade boys had played weekly for 8 solid months in Knoxville against bigger boys than Robertsville and did very well, thank you. Most of our 8th grade boys just started playing, after football season, so how can you say they are more experienced. They didn't play last year. One would think that good coaching would be getting your so-called inexperienced players experience, by playing in big games. I also don't appreciate your saying they couldn't stand up. Everyone that plays ball will stumble at times. The most important thing is, they have to work together as a team and stop drifting into a one man game at times! GO BIG ORANGE GO OWLS GO LMS COACHING STAFF!!!!!!!!!! First of all big orange, I'm sorry that you thought that I was trying to criticize the team or the staff. Of course, there has never been a coach or player that people in general doesn't second guess. I know because I have been on both sides many times. It's really easy to set in the stands and see things differently (which is what I am doing). Because I have coached myself for about 15 years and had some excellent teachers along the way. Secondly, I stand on my statement about the more senior players on the floor when the outcome is still in doubt. Of course, there could always be an exception to that. But when the players are relatively close in talent, shouldn't the more senior player with more experience play? I have experienced that myself as a coach also. I still think that the biggest problem with the owls is that most of the time it is only about one or two players. You can't achieve continued success with that type of play. That has been proven over and over again throughout sports history. And lastly, I have many friends at Jacksboro including the new head coach. But I will always be a true LMS Owls fan!

I would like to quote that just because there are 8th graders on the team, doesn't mean they are the most experienced. Three of the 8th graders just started, what are you talkin about. They didn't even play last year. I don't no for sure what kids you are putting down, but I am sure it is the most experienced that you are talking about. Experience comes with practice and playing time, and that's what the coach was trying to achieve with the substitutions. (It sounds like your child was one of the starters).

NO, my child was not one of the starters. Who said that I had a child on that team? I am not putting down any kids!!

Just out of curiosity, who is better than Lucas. seems that big blue now still wants to support lms and the kids but the only good things he can say are about himself (all the years of coaching) which makes me want to know what was your record big blue? and big mamma you want to see a circus, get with big blue and his jacksboro friends and you both can watch a real 3 ring circus by watching jacksboro's coaching staff, i have. Low blow don't you think. I think Jacksboro is going to be a really good team. The new coaching is excellent and they just have a young team. Give it time. Personally, I would rather go watch Jacksboro over LaFollette because of the coaching. Billy Wilson knows what he's doing. He's been coaching for 10+ years vs. Dotson's 2 years. So yeah, I'd rather go watch the "circus".

Well, I will say...I do have a son on the team. He is an 8th grader. He has played basketball since he [glow=orange,2,300]was 4 years old![/glow] He was Co-MVP with Lucas (a very good player) at WLES.....He holds the 3pt record at WLES...with 8...3 pointers in one game against Jacksboro. Which was held before that by Preston Young with 7 in one game. And no he didn't play last year!...but I won't go into that here and now!!!!! But that don't diminish the fact that he is a leader on the floor. He hasn't been given the chance this year because of reasons......and that is what is sorry bout this whole County when it comes to sports...everybody knows my husband coaches football at LMS...and he wouldn't dare use his dislike for someone against their kid!!!!!! When coaches from other counties want your kid come play there..move schools...I take that as it's not just a proud mama!!!!! So I know this 8th grader has about 10 yrs of experience ....as much as a 14 yr old can have. Mike had coached him for a few years before he went to the high school and I can say Mike was very surprised last year!!!!

I TOTALLY agree with MR BIG ORANGE on the part of it takes ATTITUDE and HEART,not attitude or heart Mrs.owlsBBmama.If a kid was willing to put his heart on the line to help his/her team, than thats who should be the leader.Take Mr. Lucas Nelson for example,on the opening game of the season for the owls,I dont think anyone seen or heard of him sitting on the bench sored up because he didnt get to play,no,instead he was standing up with the team every time a timeout was called, every end-of-quarter,and every time the team wasn't doing so well,he helped the bench recooperate the team by cheering them on every single time. That MR.BIGBLUE is what "TTEEAAMM" basketball is all about. Also,I would like to comment Sdney1 on her take of experiance comes with practice and playing time and i am proud to stand behind her on that.Isn't that what MR.DOTSON has been doing, subing in all players so he can get them some playing time? ???OH,and mr big orange,I can surely tell that YOU BLEED ORANGE!!!! GO OWLS 3 & 0!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
