insight on high school track??? Let Billie Ann Have it. That's the only insight needed. I wish your kids all the best this year with track Vixen, this should be a promising season.

Thank you...and I totally agree about Billie Ann. They do have a new track coach at the HS helping...I know he is doing shot, discus, and hurdles...not sure what else. My daughter says he knows what he's talking about when it comes to hurdles...so maybe this is a good thing for CC track.

that's why she is so good, she keeps helping even when the benefit is not hers, she is totally unselfish and only wants to help kids reach their potential. I hop this new person does well, I did not know someone else was helping out.

The new coach at the HS is actually an old coach, Mr. Mavery. TWC, my son is throwing the shot and discus this year. He currently holds the MS record for the discus for LMS with 116'5" set at the sectional meet last year. He should be putting it out there about 150'-160'. His shot wasn't bad last year he usually placed but he didn't focus on it as much. What I keep trying to tell him is that there are lots of schools that will give him scholarships for this.

I don't know about the girls but the boys shouldn't have a problem. Everyone finally talked Lucas into running. So that will be a great add this year. Reid is running faster than ever! Keenan is throwing the discus way further than his record breaking throw last year. Should be a record breaking year~

If he keeps working, and gets some good coaching in the field events...he should be a great thrower in high school...he should begin training now with the HS size discus and shot...it will improve his middle school weight throws as well as prepare him for HS track. He should either be close to or in the 100's already with HS discus if he is throwing the MS discus that far. I'd like to coach a natural thrower just one time...hahahaha. I know Paul Provins was a great thrower at CC and UT...if he still does any coaching I would certainly contact him to see if he could help your son out. He would be the best in the area to take him to the next level of the throws; nobody else has the knowledge/expertise that Paul does. Bad habits are easy to develop, hard to break, and can hamper a career by preventing the big gains athletes like to see.

As of now...Keenan is throwing unofficially around the 150+ ft. He holds the record with 116.4 ft.

That is great, but as I said in the above post get some professional help now so that he will have an improved technique base...he will be even better with that in place. It will also give him a big jump on high school track. You should certainly contact Paul about helping him out some.
