That is great, but as I said in the above post get some professional help now so that he will have an improved technique base...he will be even better with that in place. It will also give him a big jump on high school track. You should certainly contact Paul about helping him out some. Paul helped some last year and is going to come up and help some when he can this year. Keenan attended the throwing clinic at UT this last weekend. Now he uses the glide technique in shot and spin on the discus. The clinic was taught by the women's throwing coach of UT, a silver medalist in the Olympics.

That is great...kids tend to pick up bad habits when observing other throwers over the course of a season, and if they do not have a good coach or attend college camps/clinics they will not improve very much...sounds like he's on the right track.

I have learned that any clinic UT puts on is worth going to. I am sure Keenan picke dup some good skills there.

He threw today at the high school while they were away and put in a 42'5" shot and a 151' discus. He has recorded a couple of throws around 154' in practice. Their first meet is in Lenoir City Friday at 4:45. He has been getting in a few throws with the high school disc and shot. The high school field coach is excited about him being up there next year. Hopefully this will be another productive season for Billie Ann and crew.

Those are really good numbers...will they win meets down there...The discus is impressive, and the shot should be really competitive wherever he goes. It sounds like he has some really good explosive power.

Congrads to Rebekah. CC had a great showing at AC. it was exciting.Girls in 3rd and Boys in 1st. I seen a lot of good sportmanship on Tuesday and it felt good to watch a sporting event where no one got after a referee. Good luck at Gibbs on thursday.

The new coach at the HS is actually an old coach, Mr. Mavery. TWC, my son is throwing the shot and discus this year. He currently holds the MS record for the discus for LMS with 116'5" set at the sectional meet last year. He should be putting it out there about 150'-160'. His shot wasn't bad last year he usually placed but he didn't focus on it as much. What I keep trying to tell him is that there are lots of schools that will give him scholarships for this. thats awesome I hope to hear good things about this kid here in the next few years. I woul dhad thrown in high school but Baseball is my first Love so... look where I am now playing at the Tops on the NAIA biggest thing going from middle school to high school track is the size of the disc well I would think so anyway Just looking from outside the box. Good Luck

LMS was at Lenoir City last night.
Keenan placed first in the shot (broke his record from last meet) and placed 1st in discus and 3rd in the 200.
I know Reid broke a few records. *He won the 200. And broke Lucas's long jump record he set last meet. Lucas placing 2nd.
LMS boys placed 2nd and the girls 3rd.
Any more stats? LMS and JMS

Just like in basketball and football, the track team is loaded with what should be 9th graders participating in the 8th grade. Maybe one of these days LaFollette will participate on a level playing field. So do not jump so quickly to say how much better the teams are than other teams around. True enough, they have been winning, this year, but 9th graders are going to have an advantage over 8th graders every day in athletics. That is just a fact of life.
Now, like I said in another forum, I know most of these boys, and they are some great kids, but it is just not fair to compare a 9th grade dominated team against a 7th and 8th grade team. I know this is the way the TSSAA has it set up for them to compete, but the truth is the truth.
Although I have no ties to LMS, I have cheered these boys on as they have gone for championships this year. We should as Campbell Countians cheer on our own whenever they go beyond the county lines and take on challenges.
