I went down to Maryville this weekend to watch a couple of old CC players. Most of you know Matt and Justin Price. Justin was Mr. Football and a great QB. Matt, a great receiver no doubt. They transferred to AC after their JR. yr. I was talking to them after the game and asked where they were planning on going to teach and coach. Of course you know where I'm going with this. They are math majors and CC needs some math majors. I asked them if they had any offers for coaching and they said yes. I asked who. They threw Gatlinburg-Pittman and Clinton up to me and I was amazed. I threw a couple of thoughts in my head around and came up with a little something. Our offense is definately struggling. Everyone knows that. Alot of people would say get rid of Wells, but I don't think that is the answer. I personally don't think he should be calling the offense, but that is my opinion. So i asked the Price boys "THE QUESTION". I asked Matt first, my question was would you ever consider coming back to CC to be a receivers coach or something else. His answer was that he would like to. I then asked Justin the same question. His answer was that he would like too, but he didn't think CC would want them back. He said he liked CC alot, but he just didn't know if CC would want them. So my question is this. Is the "PRICE" right?

I would love to see the Prices back.......They left, in their opinion, to try to better themselves......does everyone agree with their decision, no, but it's still theirs! Anything would help this offense!!!!!

Have to consider the coaching changes during the "transfer" time that year. Things were very uncnnertain. They definately love CC it is their home...no matter where they teach they'll probably live in Jacksboro...they are class acts, and know a boat load of football. I probably hold them in higher regard than any of my friends because they are principled, diciplined, and overall good people. They will make great coaches someday soon.

I think they will be good coaches if they so choose to do so... CC would be agood fit for them... them leaving CC should not be an issue (but if happens or even starts to happen I think most of us already know what will/would result from this delimna)... what if it came down to someone who stuck it out at CC, being loyal to friends, school, and community and someone else who decided to leave because "somewhere else was a better fit" (no matter what excuse--be it fickle or serious---), who should be chosen... my dear old deceased friend, collegue, and coaching mentor Chan Caldwell taught me more about football (all phases of any program) than antone else once spoke these oh so true words of wisdom to me concerning transfers..."if they transferred once and then come back, whose to say that they won't transfer again just as you get to the goal line?" do you think george washington would have welcomed officer arnold back into the continental/revolutionary army""" he was a great officer for the colonial army before he decided to "transfer" to the REDCOATS!!! Chan was no dummy and neither was gen washington... dont get me wrong, I like the price boys and what they might bring to the cougars offensive table... but if the situation came to push vs shove (or in this left for greener pastures or stayed and weathered the nasty storm with your lifelong comrades, ) I think you have to stick with loyalty...

I think Matt and/or Justin would bring alot to the offensive table. I also know that they have what it takes to coach. I'd love to see them turn the program around here or see them go somewhere that their talents would be greatly appreciated.

Yes when they transferred, we were in the middle of a coaching change and the future was uncertain. My understanding is that it wasnt b/c of Coach Wells that whey transferred. My understanding was b/c of the BBall coach. That came from a very dependable source. Yes they did take the road to I-75 South, but that dont mean they arent cougar fans and still love CC. It is their home. They would bring alot to the Offensive table at CC. I know the old sayin is if they leave once they would do it again. I dont think that really rings true all the time. Do I think they would leave? Yes, only for a head coaching job somewhere else. They are CC all the way. The only problem is, would Wells let them coach here? Wells may still have hard feelings, but they could sure help out the offense. Would he give them a call or ne thing at all?

If Wells wants to help this offense and this football team, his hard feelings should be cast aside!!!

I would like to think Wells would put his hard feelings aside if he had ne at all, i dont even know if he has ne. They have alot going for them. 1. They are young, 2. They r energetic, 3. They would help the offense tremendously, 4. The kids would look up to them. Also I know a pretty decent QB that is goin to probably go to AC and I know for a fact that he would come to CC if the Price boys were coaching. Let me know what u think.

Hey yes the Price twins would be a breath of fresh air, but have they proven themselves at all in the coaching ranks at any level? I'm not trying to be negative, but they have zero experience. I would prefer someone with some experience calling offense. I think Coach Wells does a good job calling offense, he is not the one dropping passes and missing blocks. Lets look at the talent before we start questioning the man's ability to coach offense.

Even the year they won 7 games the offense was dismal. The defense carried them in 8-6 games etc. most of the time. I don't think they'd want to be coordinators right away, but a good position coach can solve a lot of ills. i.e. the dropped balls could be cured with a good WR coach (UT and Trooper with the WR's this year). Justin certainly knows the QB position, and will be a good OC in the future, but I don't think he is ready to call an offense...and he'd probably tell you the same thing.

Im not questioning his ability to coach offense, but if i remember correctly the last time we had a former WR as a Receivers coach we didnt have this problem, we made it to the playoffs that year. It may just be a coincidence, but its the facts.

If I was a QB and my receivers kept dropping passes...guess what? I wouldn't throw them the freakin ball!!!!! I would rather as of right now, have a young coach that knows the game, than an experienced coach. Whoever we bring in will not turn this around over night! Why not have a young man, that is excited about the opportunity!

One thing is sure the offense needs something. They will have to break in a new QB next year. Justin would be able to teach him alot.

I am not saying the guy does not know the position, I guess what keeps me from warming up to the idea, is why should Coach Wells bring in someone who turned their back on the program before, and then they want to come home to save the day!!!! AE2, you make it seem like Coach Wells has gone complacent, maybe, maybe not, But maybe he is getting best out of the talent that is there right now!!!, In 2 years this will be a playoff team, they are exceptionally young, Lets be patient, I did not know CC football was all of the sudden like a BIG TIME school and would hire and fire at will. I mean the man did take the team to new hights, lets cut him some slack.
