I wrote about how some people behave at ball games this week. The column will go up sometime after lunch today. Feel free to discuss it here. I ask that no names be used and that we keep it positive.

How positive can you be about a bunch of parents behaving badly?
I know that I have seen some pitiful actions from parents this year from more than one team. Berating Officials and booing at kids playing a sport, that's sad! It's embarrassing for people from other schools to know where you are from because of the actions of a few. But what do you do? I guess all you can do is sit as far away as possible and try to distance yourself from it.

That is pathetic...if you don't know how to act in front of your children, you should be banned forever. Parents are supposed to set the example, some example they're setting. There is just no excuse for it.

Most parents don't have a clue what they are yelling about! But that doesn't stop them! They think they know the rules!.....I just think it's hilarious to listen to someone making a fool out of themselves ;D

I think it shows a complete lack of class, and drags your school's image through the mud...I mean the deck is stacked anyway with the baggage this county hangs around its young athletes when they travel anyway.

First of all, great article about parents Pat.
Second, having coached for many years, it's hard to understand why some parents act the way they do. Really, all we should do is go and support our kids and cheer them on. It doesn't do your kids any good to scream at an official every time they run up and down the floor. Just remember, officials are just regular people also and ask yourself, what would I do if someone was talking to me that way? It's hard to understand until you have put that whistle around your neck and been in their shoes. Please also remember that our kids are playing a game! It's supposed to be fun and you can easily take that away by how you present yourself!

As an official you know your going to hear some things...thats just part of it... its sad to say that in the association that I officiate, the parent that got tossed at the championship game has been discussed between us this year...think about it Jacksboro is getting a bad reputation all because of one parent...I have heard from other parents at JMS how he behaves & they have kids playing on the team too, they say that they are embarrassed to sit close to the guy...I had one JMS game this year & didnt hear anything...but I got to see first hand at the championship game what everyone has talked about all year...I know him & have always thought that hes a nice guy...but he needs to relax a little & enjoy watching his son perform...a JMS fan got tossed & then the Jacksboro fans started cheering, that should tell him something!!

He is a nice guy. He just needs to learn to behave.

True, he is a pretty decent fellow, but when it comes to sporting events, he is way too emotional. It probably won't be the last time he is thrown out of the gym.
LaFollette hasn't had any parents thrown out that I know of, but they have a few that alot of people try to avoid sitting around. There have been a few games this year, when the game was a little tight that they were embarrassing to sit near.

Schools should have a policy, that if a parent gets kicked out of a game, he or she shouldn't be allowed to attend a game for the rest of the year. No matter who you are.....There are a lot of good parents at Jacksboro and this is in no way a reflection on them.......GO OWLS......GO EAGLES.......GO LADY EAGLES.

One has to act like quite an ass to get tossed to begin with...you are right on bigorange1. It is a joke that parents act this way. The only thing worse than acting like a fool at a game is bashing players from your own and/or the other team. I have heard more than enough of that business as well down there. I really hope something is done by the admin. of respective schools that have these problems to remedy them.
