This is why I hate sports in general in Campbell County. People get all red under the collar and start going negative. Every parent is going to think his/her child is the best...as someone said earlier if you didn't you wouldn't be much of a parent. As for coaching experience, it doesn't qualify anyone to degrade another coach, maybe one can criticize...but not degrade. There is a reason he has been chosen to be the head coach...someone had confidence in him that was in a position to make such a decision. Also if kids are truly being "I" players they need to be criticized...have to wake up sometime and realize it is about something larger. I hope all this doesn't ruin the team, and they can right the ship...nothing is worse than outside interference hurting a team. I happen to be an outsider looking in at all this as well, and I can honestly say that I am glad many of the folks that have posted in this forum are not living in Corbin because their kids, cousins, grandkids, etc. would not even be on the team...one thing that can not be tolerated is meddling relatives of little Johnny if a coach is to have any credibility at all. Granted expressing opinions on here may not be as serious as face-to-face confrontation; something tells me that goes on as well up in LaFollette. Redhound, you said a mouthful there. As long as I can remember as a kid, sports here have always been about who your family is and the local political pull. Of course, everyone thinks there child is an all-star and parents can't seem to look beyond that and truly and honestly compare talent on the field or court to better the team results. Unfortunately, when you are in the coaches position, it has to be about the team first and then the individual players second. No one in this county can take any constructive criticism or even suggestions of the simple kind because they are pulled from so many different directions. And holy cow, if you criticize a player to motivate or make them better, then you have his or her entire family to deal with. It takes criticism, correction and practice to better your self in whatever you do, as far as a team sport is concerned. The problem is, here in Campbell county, no one wants to accept those things to become better. It always comes down to finger pointing and everyone telling you what you did wrong. Great post redhound, karma coming at ya.

Criticizing is the same as attacking with negativity According to: www.m-w.com/dictionary/criticize 1: to consider the merits and demerits of and judge accordingly : EVALUATE This is the definition of criticism I was referring to.

I should not have to...I generally talk to people that understand the difference in criticizing someone and degrading them. My initial post indeed said that a critique and degradation were two totally opposite concepts.

Criticism comes with coaching and if one can't handle that then one should not coach. One should be able to draw from criticism, I have over the years (whether I like to admit it or not). Michael Jordan, the best Bballer of all time admitted that he was not perfect and learned something new everyday. Trying to explain something to people who have no experience in what is being explained is pointless and futile. I am thankful for this site and the opportunity it provides to chat and jostle verbally with others who support Campbell County sports. To quote Mr. Lonnie Vann and the slogan he started a few years back with LMS football "What doesn't kill me makes me stronger". Enjoy everyone and lets remember that we are all on the same team!

I think that is part of the problem lmscoach, when it comes to dealing with parents and relatives of players. They take the criticism of a coach personally and for the most part they don't have the experience of a coach to understand what is really going on. Most people just don't understand that. Gotta agree with coach a few days ago, at least this has stirred up and renewed some interest in LMS basketball again. All teams have little problems, especially when it comes to playing time! And that in turn, gets the fans, parents and relatives riled up. People just have to remain civil and remember that you learn alot more when you listen more and speak less!

If the passion is this strong at 3-0, I hate to think what this board will look like if the Owls lose a game . . .

:)It is correct about us ''children'' reading this at school, because we do. or at least i know i do anyways. I am half and half with everyone's oppinions here. I think you all have a right to say what you want, but it does make some of us players mad because we are working hard and i know for one that the boys varsity is going all the way. They just have so much confidience in each other and themselves. We ''lady owls'' are working hard to improve on mistakes we make in games and are having more faith in each other. I would just like to see more comments on the lady owls and see what you all think about us this year. Not just me, but the other girls kind of feel discluded at times when we read this. We just would like to know what your comments are. Please if at all possible be respectful and honest. lol! Oh and owlsbbmama, i agree with you on your sons playing time, i know him personally, and i know he has great pontental, i just don't think he has time to adjust yet. it will come along. Thanks,..............Go Lady owls!

I just want to know why kids are allowed to read at school? Nothing wrong with them reading it, but where are they getting time to? If it is at break or something I understand, but I just find it odd that they have time.

Your just picking out stuff to get things started i believe. Im sorry but i really just wanted to tell you all that we owls and lady owls are going all the way and we aren't going to let some message board bring us down. im sorry if i was rude in saying that but i feel it had to be done.
