I have heard that Wells was officially released from his coaching duties yesterday. Been coming for a while. Who will replace him? I'm assuming Ellison is out of the question since he just took a head coaching job, unless he wants to pull a Kiffin lol. Is Wampler going to make a return?

Well disgruntled I don't think you will have to worry about that seeing as how he just took a head coaching position. I played for him he is a good coach & apparently the people in Wartburg wanted him. I agree with you that Wampler probably wouldn't come back, but you never know.
Now disgruntled you said we can do better, but you didn't give any opinions on who would be good for the job. So who do you want, it seems that this thread is only about who we can't get or who we don't want. That isn't going to get us anywhere. Who is out there? Don't give me the Price twins crap, if we can do better than Ellison than we can do better than the Prices or better than any assistant coach with no head coaching experience for that matter.
Who can we go after that already has head coaching experience & could do a good job at CCHS? Most successful head coaches won't want this job. Sorry but it is true.

I agree change is needed for most if not all coaching positions at the HS. However, unless there is a fundamental change in the system nothing will improve at any level in our county. It all begins on the educational side. Education must become the first priority. If these young adults continue to graduate with no aspirations of life beyond the HS athletic glory days. Where will they be in five, ten, twenty years? Do we want the cycle of low wage uneducated campbell county students to continue. I won't name names, however everyone on this site knows of several "star" athletes who were awarded athletic scholarships only to return home to campbell county with no degree or aspirations of a better life. Priorities are the key to all of this. Credibility in education will bring credibility to extra-curriculars! Let's find coaches who truly have the educational and athletic best interest in our entire student body, afterall a HS coach is an educator first and foremost then a coach!

I am not bad mouthing Ellison. If that is the way you took it then that I am sorry. For theinformant, I have heard people talk as well, but I am not gonna post anything on here until it is actual truth. As for my picks, I would go for Tony Lambert first. HC experience and a heck of coach that builds character in players. If you can't get him, then I would say Justin Price. Has been in our classification for a couple of years and has an understanding of the teams we will play on a weekly basis. My third option would then be Rodney Ellison. Also cchsparent, I think you are exactly right. You have to form a kid into being a man and put them in the right direction to succeed in life and then football. I think we CAN and WILL get a coach that will do an excellent job in that form.

I hate to see a coach get fired. Its gotta be hard on Wells its not like he enjoyed losing or something. I thought he was doing a good job, the last few years just didn't work out for whatever reason.
Disgruntled cougar dont listen to pressman he has bad mouthed me plenty of times as well. It comes with the territory lol. Everyone has a right to their opinion. Im an alum of CC & will always pull for them. The first score i check on Friday nights after our game is the CCHS score.
I agree with your statements about who you would go after & why. Although im a little biased toward your third pick haha. Seriously if it has to be someone with head coaching experience, Lambert is a great choice. Good man too. If not then maybe there are some top notch assistants out there that would be great. Justin & Matt are both coaches that are well ahead of their years.
But, their could be someone out there that isnt even mentioned maybe from another state.
As for me Im happy at Wartburg. This is a great place & the young men here work their tails off for me every day. Not that I would ever rule out coming back to Campbell County, but I'm not Lane Kiffin (as pressman said) this isn't the time.
Good luck to the search comittee.

Duties of a School Board The two basic premises of school board operations are: 1.The board is a corporate body. The authority of a board member includes expressing an opinion and casting a vote in a board meeting. Outside a board meeting, a board member has no authority over school matters. 2.The board is a policy-making body. The board speaks through policy. Matters which the board chooses not to address through policy are left to the discretion of the superintendent. School boards make policy and superintendents carry out the policy. new.tsba.net/Links_Resources/A_Guide_to_Becoming_a_School_Board_Member

It is a crock how this went down. Heatherly recomended him back and they fired him anyway.

A crock? Are you kidding me. They asked him to resign so they went about it the right way and he refused to. Heatherly knew they wanted him gone and he played it off like he didn't know anything. People are ready for a change. Wells says he wants answers, but heck look at his record. That should be enough of an answer. If he would have just resigned like they had asked then he would not have been fired. Thats good Heatherly recomended him back, now I know he don't really care that much about the athletics up there, he just wants to make sure he protects everyone. Whether you like the decision or not, you would have to be blind to not think Ridenour did what was best for the high school. Heck if you want to keep going on. I guarantee you if Martin was here still, he would have done the same exact thing.

The "People" should have no say so in who coaches. Wiuth that attitude nobody in their right mions would coach here because you have to be both a politician and a coach. Just wait ol Rectum Miller will be going after Coach Jones next.
