I was at that game. I have a pic somewhere of Josh impacting the catcher. That was a sick sound. I loved it.

My Junior football season 1994 we played at Oak Ridge in the 2nd game of the season, coach pebleys first year as head coach. On the opening drive of the game we marched it down the field behind the arm of Tracy Berry & some nice catches by Corey Overton, we scored to take a 7-0 lead the first lead ever for a CCHS varsity football team over an OR team. But, the thing that made it even more memorable was after our TD I looked into the crowd & everyone was going crazy, I can still picture a girl in the band jumping up & down with her mouth hung open like she couldnt believe this was happening.

Yes, because the next day was beautiful weather, but they thought it was just going to get worse. Maybe the worst game weather wise I had ever seen at CC.

Heres another old memory for you guys. 1993 Oak Ridge comes to CCHS at this time we still used what is the baseball locker room for our field house. So at halftime we would go back behind the stadium on the hill below the locker room where people could look over the top of the bleachers could see us. Anyone at the top of the stadium got a great halftime show on this night. OR also came that way for the half, we are sitting in the grass & as they walked by a cougar player whose name I will not mention says "what are you looking at?" & then throws his cup of water into one of the OR players face. What ensued then was a fight that makes the Miami-Fla. Int. brawl look like childs play, Campbell County fans had stolen some OR banners & were setting them on fire & throwing them from the top of the bleachers at OR players. What a night!

Those were the days when fans were intense...and to certain degrees allowed to be by the admin...not anymore, the last days of that seem to have been in the late 90's even during basketball the heckling that used to be famous seems to have died down in recent years.

cougars first win over central in baseball...an extra inning affair...derrick mynatt hit a homerun over teh left field fence that set off a wild celebration...I did that game for channel 12... htere are several games that stick out in my mind, but then I have teh advantage of seeing so many cougar games during my channel 12 days...

yeah that opening game drive against OR was something special...it was actually teh second time CC ever led OR in football...their stands were quiet, their players' eyes looked like saucers...we trailed at the half 14-7...they proceeded tpo drill us in teh second half...one of their trainers told me later that they had never heard such "carrying on" by OR coaches in the locker room at half time...I was also told that OR always dressed in shorts and shoulder pads during CC week, until that particular time...but not any more... two years later we did the same thing...opening kickoff received by CC...with good line blocking, DBerry and MGreen led the CC offense on a long drive that saw berry break a pretty long run for a CC lead of 7-0...it didnt hold up long either but it sure was fun to see teh reaction of teh OR faithful... friends in teh OR sports scene still talk to me about those two games every time I see them...they remember just like we do!!!

Those are special memories, how about your last year as coach in 1996 when Michael Green intercepted a pass in the endzone on the last play of the game to preserve an 18-12 victory over Scott Co. to open the season. I have a great & i mean this sarcatically but I know you will remember this coach, at Lynn Camp, KY my senior season you called the old 59 pass which is a fly route for those of you who didnt know, we knew it was there, but Derrick Wallace audibled to a slant, so I ran the slant & Derrick still threw the fly!!! There was nobody back there, I would still be running with that one today!!Instead we go on to get robbed literally 12-6.
