Leaving a team, program, or school before a game (literally) is never the right thing today. They may have wanted to move on to a different school, but they didn't handle it correctly. Maybe it was time for Len to move on, but I can guarantee this. We aren't going to state this year. Just some FYI. We've never been. It is going to take a big time coach and some big time players with experience to accomplish this. Oh yeah, a little luck helps too.

I am going to respond to Joshjames statement that coaching clinics dont help. Well Josh with all due respect, your wrong. I have been to several coaching clinics and at each one i learned something new that helped me as a coach and learned several drills that helped my team. I have went to the Bob Huggins, Oliver Purnell and the Skip Prosser coaching clinics and each coach had a different style of play or philosiphy and i learned something from each that helped me win over 300 AAU games and coach at different levels of school ball. I have also attended a few clinics of very successful high school coaches, I mean there successful for some reason other than talent. As a coach you have your own style but at times you have to change with your talent and its nice to know you can adjust to a style you learned at a clinic.

Peebs and CCHS parent, I completely agree with both of you. I mean since you all know so much about the game and have been apart of it for a long time... Can I ask a question though? Peebs how many years have you coached basketball at Campbell County? Yeah thats what I thought... CCHS parent have you played up there in the last 8 years? No, the answer is No? I have been there first hand and I think that I would know just somewhat more than both of you... Unless you both have played under Pierce in the last 8 years. If thats the case than I absolutely apologize to both of you... You dont always have to agree with someones post, but calling people out... STAY CLASSY PEEBS AND CCHS PARENT!!!

CCHS was not in existence when I went to HS...COACH Pierce played at old LHS when Iplayed at old JaxHS...I began teaching the same year that COACH Pierce did, both at th old Caryville JHS...COACH Pierce coached teh county champion 6th grade team that year (which went undefeated by the way)...tehnext two years were also successful years for him in that same capacity...tehn CCHS opened and COACH Pierce went to LJHS for several years where he continued to be very successful...then he ent on toCCHS where the talent was beyond good and he again was a very successful coach...during his second stint at CCHS teh talent level started to decline...I was at alost evey CCHS game when COACH Pierce was at the helm...we3 have talked X's and O's on numerous occasions (including teh infamous "weave" offense where the play is slowed down)...so yes I do know a little about basketball...more than some people realize...I understand COACH Pierce's offensive basketball philosophy probably as well as anyone... I also know that part of his philosophy was to CATER to no one---neither parent or player...that is why some players QUIT the team and were coerced into trying to embarrass (spelling??) teh school...but alas all they did was bring embarrassment upon themselves and those who coerced them into QUITTING...YOU know they werent teh only players who have QUIT on the team/school... that is one thing that can not be said about COACH Pierce...he never QUIT because things were not going his way on teh scoreboard...QUITTING is not in his vocabulary... no I never coached basketball at CCHS and no I never played for COACH Pierce...but when I was in HS I always stuck it out ...we werent very good...we played hard and listened to our coaches...we never questioned thier knowledge of the game ...we never QUIT on our team, our teammates, or our school... anyone can QUIT... thats easy, teh easy way out...QUITTERS are like opinions...they can be found almost in every aspect of life...but opinions are on teh most part accepted... QUITTERS and their opinions are usually laughed at...

Josh,
No I have not played up there in last 8 years. I have been out in real world gaining valuable knowledge. I have however been invloved coaching a girls basketball team which made it to the state final four HS basketball tournament and a State final eight softball team, so I think that may qualify me to have a coaching opinion. It wasn't me who got the teams there, it was the players hard work, and many, many coaches through the years that worked with the players, taught them good fundamentals and kept them interested in the game. All of these coaches continually look to clinics, work sessions, camps, and any other avenue available to them to strive to improve their own skills, both as a coach and a mentor to these young athletes. So keep your head buried in the sand and continue the campbell county pipe dream of great things will happen here if we can just find the right local village idiot to run the show. Doubt it will happen anytime soon!!

Hey ae2, would you agree that with the amount of boys that we have at cchs compared to girls puts cc at a horrible disadvantage to compete in our district and regions? I mean 900 girls and 550 boys? In Ohio the the divisions are based on boys enrollment so both teams her would be AA instead of AAA. I honestly dont think we can win the league anymore in any sport at cchs especially football. and as bad as it may hurt some peoples feelings this includes the bball players that quit, I could see them getting 3rd or 4th in the league the next two years and with a couple of breaks maybe a 2nd, but state ? LOL im sorry i just dont see it . Thanks

CCHS parent,
Are you serious about being in the world gaining valuable knowledge? I mean come on. What is that all about? Hey congrats on the "WOMENS" teams you had in the past. Im guessing that with that accomplishment you are wanting some praise so there it was. Im completely sorry if you cant understand my idiot talk since Ive not been gaining knowledge and everything. Why dont you put in the for opening "MENS" position at Campbell County? I would love to see your capabilites. And with all your accomplishments Im sure that you would be one of Ms. Blevins top applicants. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME...

Josh,
Obviously you are missing my point. No I do not want nor do I deserve credit for past teams success. And I won't even discuss whatever point you are trying to make by emphasizing "WOMENS" teams, both genders need good coaching. The point IS: Coaches who are successful are willing to get out there and learn from one another, their players, and seek advise to both improve their teams and themselves. The message I keep getting from you is, who needs to gain any more knowledge, all you need to do is play for a few years and your qualified to be a coach. Based on the closed mind attitudes of so many here, who in their right mind would want to come into this community and coach at the HS level. Unless the overall attitude of the community is willing to change we can expect the same lack of success to continue.

I agree jungle....I just think the days of CC competing for championships could be slipping away! The sad thing is Im not sure if we would ever move down it would make any difference...a couple wins here or there maybe.....more than winning the program needs discipline....which is what its lacked for years!
