What problems...I know they have plenty.
Slagel is a pretty good player...he has a hot head, but I think he'll grow out of that. He works really hard at improving himself. I see him playing a SS type position in high school unless he grows/puts on some good weight.

In girls basketball there are two Courtneys worth watching. Courtney Miller of LaFollette and Courtney Morris of Jacksboro both played well this year.

I saw slagle a couple of times this past season...if he will learn to follow his blocks and be patient he could be a break away threat...the two times I saw him he had a tendency to try to run "outside" his blocker instead of cutting off teh blockers butt... a good running back will put his hand on his lead blockers back/backside and follow him through the hole and then break to the open...casey tackett was a master of this art...

these kids were already mentioned on an earlier post but eathen simpson, eathen miller, tanner sweat, bo bo ferris are very talented and so coachable. Heck that whole group of sixth graders remind of my 8th grade year at jms.....the last undefeated team there. They of talent at every position on both sides of the ball and plenty of depth to boot. With good coaching, by their 8th grade year they will be a force. Hopefully this group will stick togeather, they are special.

Someone told me Slagle had great speed, is that true? I saw Collins a lil bit, he looked good to running the ball. Only down fall i seen of him was protecting the ball. Those two and Sharp, all three of those are dangerous threats in my opinion. If you put one at RB, would the other two be good receivers?

You could do a really good full house or wishbone type backfield with Collins, Sharp and Slagle.

Slagle's not that big. When he gets to HS, maybe a couple of thumps on the noggin by a 270 lb. tackle would teach him to stay close to his blockers.

Nothing wrong with playing the piano. Chicks dig musicians. You're so right Pat. My 8 yr old takes piano lessons and plays football. He has a well rounded childhood.

I don't think we can have this list without Jason Collins or Keenan Evans on it. Of course I agree .... Keenan...is going to be a big boy like his dad. He still has a lot of growing to do. By his senior year he will be a beast. He has the mentality that is takes to make a great football player. I think you can be big or even talented but if you don't have the mentality...it doesn't matter. The winning Cougar fb team...wasn't that big but the had the mentality of a winning team! They had heart~ Keenan, will be a player that the other team won't want to contend with...in his future years to come. Reid with his speed...Collins, Slagle...we have the players for the future of CC...to make a good team....but it all starts their freshmen year...they have to want it and want it bad. They can't wait till they are a Jr or Sr...it all starts now!

This is a very interesting thread, but one thing concerns me greatly about the future of CCHS football. Of all the talented young athletes that have been mentioned, has anyone noticed that only ONE potential LINEMAN has been mentioned.
I may be old-school, but if you don't have the big guys up front, all of the talent in the world in skill positions will not help rack up the W's.
Some of you coaches correct me if I am wrong, but we need to motivate some of the big guys to come out . . .

There are not many good linemen coming up...other than the big boy from LaFollette...Lucas maybe, and the Oaks kid at JMS. Maybe some kids can grow or some will come out of the halls and improve.
I see Slagel playing a wing/slot position in HS or maybe strictly defense. Collins is a LB through and through...he may make a good fullback, but I do not think that fits CC's offensive style of late. Sharp seems like he will become the primary back, but who know what can happen in 4 yrs. time Pat. Slagel has good speed, but not great yet...he wasn't much faster than Collins, but he sure had a nose for the football defensively. There is some potential there, but really it all depends on the area's competition and the amount of improvement made in the future...the jump to HS is a big one, and some don't make while others excell.

If Keenan gets as big as his dad, (not meaning it in a bad way), he could be a lineman.
