I didn't say...that the freshman's were going to make or break the team! I have one that will be a freshman and one in college that played at CC. And I have been there...seen it...and had the pleasure of my son being on the first winning season at CC. My upcoming freshman...knows all to well...that HS is going to be totally different!!! I have all the confidence in the world in him that he WILL be a contributing factor on the freshman and JV team! And his goal will be... to be a team player....and someday be a leader on the Varsity Squad! So don't take what I said...that the team should be ran by freshman! This is a learning time for them....and it will also depend on the individual....who wants to learn? How dedicated are they? I have a few kids...I've learned a few things!!!

You know you get too bent out of shape...nobody said anything negative about anyone and you get defensive...it has happened on every thread when someone disagrees with you. The point is that a post was made that said freshmen would contribute...in order to contribute one must play more than a few snaps here and there, and very few freshmen are ever ready to step up to that level. This is from a coach's perspective and not out of disrespect for anyone, but the fact remains that if these kids are thrown to the wolves they WILL at some point fold under the pressure.
Oh I see the post I was referring to has been deleted by the poster.

Redhound I see what you are saying, but Im just saying I am not sure they will have a choice but to be thrown into the fire early. I know coach wells like young guys to be on specials so thats whats gave me the thought.

But you did take offense at what I said...that it is possible for a freshman to contribute!! I think if you take a senior that has no work ethic and not willing to give 110%....VS. a freshman that is all that....and it's going to make a difference! Maturity is a major role in sports....and experience~ So I wasn't disagreeing with what you said...was actually agreeing...so DON'T get all bent out of shape!!!

I was just pointing out the abrasive nature you take when people do not agree with you...I simply explained why about 1 in 500 freshmen can be relied upon to play varsity football. As I read the post you quoted I do not see anything irrational or abrasive to anyone except the pointing out of your knee-jerk reactions to contradictory opinions...I am in the business of facts; as a coach you have to be, and the fact remains freshmen IN GENERAL are unreliable, at best, at the varsity level. Physically and mentally very few freshmen are prepared to play at such a high level. I am certainly not pointing any single player out...I am speaking from experience as a coach and player...heck I was more gifted than most varsity players when I was a freshman, but it is another ballgame when the fullbacks are as big as you and the TBs run 4.5 fourties. Pat can vouch for me on this one...because I am not going to toot my own horn about numbers etc...lets just say I was a rare breed; none like me since I will bet, and I wasn't ready with all those tools until say game 7-8...no 8th grader coming up has those tools. No offense meant, just facts.

Well Chris Johnson is the last freshman to be a true contributer...& since this thread is about the 2007 CCHS football schedule let us get back on topic & end this thread...all that matters is that when you look at it you will see 10 L's

You are right, but they do not seem to have a world-beater schedule. I honestly do not know what they will have returning etc.
New point and question...please provide any info. on the upcoming team you may have. Be positive and constructive in your responses. What is returning, who is playing where, etc.

I guess that it would depend on the mindset you were in when you read it Redhound. If you are calm it comes across as calm and the same the other way. But I would assume that you took it as abrasive. I simply add emphasis when I see exclamation points...I rarely do speak this way as it sounds negative more often than not. It isn't a big deal though...I just thought everyone needed to calm down some and listen to other points.
