from what I can recall the cougars were a running team that season & that made it easy for receivers to get open because they loaded up against the run.

So, it looks like that we currently have a tie for the best coach in the county! Billie Ann Evans and Sherry Chapman are two very good coaches and are both deserving of this title.

I have to say though....if Sherry was as personable of a coach as Billie Ann is...she would have a full team at all times. Over the years speak for itself....so many awesome players have quit because of Sherry's attitude. If Billie Ann doesn't like you...you would never know it~...if Sherry doesn't...you better look out! My son had her in class and he said that if you were one of her (favorite) players you pretty much didn't have to do anything in class to pass...except run errands all day! While he worked his butt off.....to make the same grades! At the time it was a catch 22....I chose not to go say anything to her because I thought my daughter would be playing when she got to the high school but my daughter is very smart and chose to capitalize on that. So I missed my chance...and that is sad that my son had to suffer cause of someone that was in an authority position because she potentionaly held my dauthers future in her hands! And that angers me very much!

if this poll was last year there would have only been one coach to vote for Gale Stanley

In CC it is Chris Shouse at H.S. level. Shouse knows X's and O's inside and out, and he is very bright in the weight room.
Johnny Bruce in Middle School...he didn't have enough time to prove himself at the H.S. He is/was a master motivator, his gameplanning was concise and effecient, and his practices ran like a rolex watch.
There are not very many good coaches in the county imo because they aren't paid enough for their time.

I could not agree any more than that, these kids have to start somewhere and where else but jr. pro, some great players have come out of these organizations but the mill is running low, we need to encourage coaches to continue for the long term payoff of high school ball.

Believe me being a great youth coach is high praise. Anybody can be a great coach with players that have had good fundamental work throughout their career. It takes a good coach to wor with kids that are learning fundamentals.

where do you think billy wilson got started at it was not where he is now it was in youth league sports everyone must start somewhere Indeed everyone must start somewhere, but there is no shame in being a youth league coach. It however does not qualify one to coach at the next level. I think it is an acomplishment if a youth coach makes it to the middle school level. They certainly do not go to the HS level most times. Most coaches at higher levels start there out of college and work their way up a HS staff's totem pole or they are G-As in college and step into a coordinator type position at the HS level, especially in football. This is a major problem in CC many look at good records at lower levels and think it will translate into a similar record at a higher level when that is certainly not the case. But as I said earlier use your knowledge for the good of kids and the glory of God at any level and strive to make a positive impact in the lives of the players you are priveleged enough to coach. In the famous last words of Josh James...."Thank you for your time."

Just wanted to cast a vote for Coach Hunley, since his name was omitted from the list. He was a good guy to play and he knew his stuff. He was a coach that would play his best players no matter of what kind of background they came from. He played to win and not to please the parents. I know this from personal experience. He was a good guy also.
