another sad night in coug bball. good effort from the boys who got to play. lackluster job from the coach. ... hold your head up high players and fans. next year isn't far away. and maybe just maybe if we are all good Santa will bring us a new coach --instead of a lump of coal.------------------------------- if not i have an great ideal to pack the stands at cchs. lets promote it as a circus and Coach as the ring leader and the administration as the clowns!! instead of weight guessers we can have win guessers, we can have the bearded lady( Blevins) trained elephants( school board members egos), a Magician that can make sports programs disappear(Seales) . we can let all the school boards family member that work for the county run concessions and sell Items like "i love the weave" T-shirts, or shirts that say "Losing only hurts when you Breathe" or " Losing its more than winning at CCHS" Len Pierce boxed chocolates were you alway know what your going to get ( a losing season) Coach pierce chia pets( insert your own joke here) , bumper stickers that say I survived 3 20 loss seasons . we can let City Council take up the gate money for us, we all know how they can be trusted with that. they may only charge us mileage and we have to pay their cell phone bills from our take. the list goes on and on---- sorry for all the jokes.-------- my grand paw told me a great story along time ago, about how life works, he looked me in the eyes and said and i quote " any coach can lead a horse to water, but its the good coach, that builds a bond, instills belief, and motivates that can get the horse to drink, its the poor coach that drowns the horse blames its on the horses talent, background or family tree and has his buddies give him a free ride back to the ranch... ----

There is no shame in losing to Cumberland Gap. I wish everybody could see what a great thing they have going up there. If I had a child(heaven help us all if that ever happens) that is where he would be going to school.

I was at the game last night and coaching really had nothing to do with the outcome. We played 6 players, they played hard, but most lack pure basketball skills. Something that a coach isn't going to teach players in a month. Now, don't get me wrong, Cumberland Gap was awful too. Reminded me of a JV team. Either way, I actually was surprised to see us play as well as we did.

Cumberland Gap does have a descent team for a double A school. Most triple A schools that have a half way good team would beat a team like Cumberland Gap though. I have heard good things about the school and their sports programs, but I still don't believe I would drive 45 minutes to take my kid there. When you play for Campbell County you are playing in the states top classification.

Definitely aware that Cumberland Gap was a AA school. So is Austin East, Fulton, Seymour, Etc. and I would hope that those teams would beat Cumberland Gap easily.

One of the reasons CG may have seemed like a JV team is they are very heavily populated with freshmen and sophomores.

Len's offensive game planning tonight was working so well. the way he tried to wear down Oak ridge with his starting 5 by not subbing in the first half was a stroke of pure coaching magic. he had the team hit 40 points tonight. which is over their average of 38. only problem with that is Oak Ridge scored 60. cheers to all the boys who played their hearts out. there is a brighter day ahead. at 4-11 i think we are on the draft board now to pick first or second next year for a new coach.

Yea, I went to the game too. The defensive game plan was actually good. They really couldn't shoot from outside. We were packing it inside with a 2-3. Len had a hard time keeping his team slowed down but did in the first half. Hence the first half score being so close. Oak Ridge has a couple of big timers but beyond that didn't really impress me. I think Halls can take them with ease.
Now, Len isn't known for playing deep in his bench, but he actually has 5 guys that can help the team when they are out there. There is no one on the bench. I mean no one. We brought in the "football Player" type kid and he did nothing but foul. So, overall.... Congrats boys.... I am actually enjoying coming to these games and watching the effort they are giving.

These boys may not win the district, but based on everyone's coments they are playing with excellent effort and tremendous heart. That is what makes a champion...I comend these young men for finishing the season under such dire circumstances under a coach that is apparently on his way out.

The boys hung in there about as well as one could imagine....Oak Ridge just had more athletes......Cory is a great player but I get the picture that the other players rely on him to much......If we could get 1 more consistent scorer it would help Cory out greatly!! I thought Green did a pretty good job tonight and I thought Hatcher shot the ball much better!........WHAT WAS UP WITH THE TECHINICAL THAT WAS GIVIN? ? ANYONE KNOW???

I believe that Green had blood coming out of his nose, and coach P was complaining about the severity of the foul. They told him to sit Green until the bleeding stopped and he wouldn't take him out basically. So, technical foul.
I thought Green played scared myself.
