I am getting reports that Dr. Judy Blevins, director of schools for Campbell County, has moved to cut all elementary school sports. This is a horrid move as sports are a great way to keep kids involved in school, teach teamwork, and build character. Something must be done about this. I recomend you all call Dr. Blevins at the Campbell County School central office and demand that no sports be cut! The number there is 562-8377

This is the stupidest thing I have heard in a while. I want to know exactly why sports are being cut because for years and years students have played sports and is one of the only motivational rewards the children recieve for doing well with their grades. If you want to see a higher drop out rate and larger amounts of individual grade drops, you continue to take away one of the only things that some of these kids have. Our taxes pay for this and I think it is a greedy and wrong thing for the council to do to sit back and take things away from children just to thicken your own pockets a little more.

We have heard about this uproar and it is disturbing to all. The kids are upset, the budget is failing, and it seems like there is no good side to this story. The bad news is that it is not a story at all and will become reality to some kids when this process furthers. We have contacted our chairman and they have responded in no way. I believe Monday night they had a meeting and we would like to know the details if anyone has any?

Wow! What a dumb idea.....of course it is about $$$$$, but surely we can get it by not hurting our kids!

Okay,I'm 14 years old,and a freshman at CCHS.I planned on running track. But,as of now,we don't even have a track team.I worked my tail end off this summer, and I still am now.I think it is unfair, selfish, and greedy that the fricken school board is taking all sports except a select few. I know little kids, too, that worked this summer for sports at the elementary schools. My little cousin was on the "Pom-pom" team at Valley View, and she was so excited, she even asked me to come watch her...Now,she doesn't get to do anything, poor thing. And my little brother also plays basketball for JES...The cut wasn't that easy this year. For some people, and kids, sports are the only thing that keep them out of fights, and their grades up.I'm sure some people might think, oh she's just a stupid little girl, well here's something for those of you who do think that.I'M NOT!!I will work, protest, and fight, for this.Alot of high schoolers, sports are there only way to college. So,if you want to grab the dreams of all these young people, and stomp all over them,I think you should know,God will strike you for that. That's the greediest thing I believe I have ever heard of,and it will not go down good in His book. So,with that said,God help you all,who are for the cutting of school sports.
God Bless.

That Prety much is some bull I cant even think why they would want to do that. I just got off the phone with the board of education and they said "Elem. sports where not mandated by the state, and wasnt brining enough money into the school system, and at the moment it was at the side." does that really matter when you got kids not being active, laying around playing PS2 sitting on the couch eating. and they wounder why kids are over weight, its bad enough when your parents dont make you do active things, but when you own school system wants to knock it down? I dont know thats just said, but I shall be praying about it. See you all when I come in

It has never been state mandated, it has always been for the good of the kids. We have to fight this anyway we can. I'll be giving out school board members and county commisioner's numbers soon so you can call and ask them what the deal is too. I should have that up by tomorrow evening. Keep posting and calling. Spread the word this has to be changed!

I honestly think this whole thing is nothing but a bunch of bull.Without sports more kids in CC are going to drop out,let there grades drop, and find worse things to do,as in drinking and drugs.I may only be 13,but ive been playing sports in CC since i was atleast 4,and ive played basketball for school, for over 5 years now. This is my last year at the middle school and i highly want to walk away and be proud of my season, with being a 8th grader,a 3yr player, and a leader.Sports is the only thing that keeps me out of trouble and actually gives me something to work for in school.I wouldnt care about my grades or anything without having a sport, wether it be basketball or track.I started track last year and it made me realize there are other sports besides ball to play.I enjoy every minute of the practices I go to.I've wanted to quit plenty of times but never could bring myself to it,because i love it so much.I know other people might have different sayings about this,BUT its not what the parents want. Its want we want.We need things to keep us going and healthy. We need a good life style, and I think sports is always gonna help me be where I need to go.Playing Jr. Pro or AAU isnt going to cut it for us.Or any other summer leauges.Playin school sports are more fun then anything I know.So I think they should let us have sports and be done with it.

It isn't about going to watch, it is about the kids playing for and representing their school. They will literally let anybody play and coach Junior Pro and that doesn't build a competitive spirit. Stay tuned I will have a big colukmn on the main page on this Thursday and will update here until then.
