Johnny Bruce. Never understood why he's never been given a shot.

Well lets see. Pretty good list. Justin Price is doing wonders with the offense at AC, but that would be a huge paycut to come to CC.
Tony Lambert is now the DC at Scott High, so I think he would consider it. he has a proven track record as head coach at Oneida.
Rodney Ellison is a Cougar at heart & appears to be doing a good job as OC at Wartburg this year.
David Wampler, great coach (maybe the best on the list) but I heard that he burnt some bridges here.
Mike Miller, thats a joke.
Cody Parker, he doesnt have anough experience. Middle school & high school is a completely different game. Probably be a good assistant coach at the high school level.
I think out of what we have on the list here that most would be good, but the ones that I see that might really have a shot & be interested would be Price, Ellison, & Lambert. I'm sure Price & Ellison would love a shot at being head coach & Lambert would probably want a head coaching position again. Out of these 3 I would be leary of hiring Lambert after what he did to AC a year ago. So that leaves Price & Ellison, in which case I like the fact that Price is at a bigger school, but he left CC once as a player so is that what we want in a coach? So with all of that I would go with Ellison.
But don't get me wrong I would first look for someone with head coaching experience & hope to find a George Quarles or Gary Rankin. With all of that being said, I'm not sure anyone like that would apply.

Well this is almost laughable. It is a bit pre-mature to talk about replacements for a job that isn't open. Not to mention the season is young, if the Cougars pull an upset over AC all this talk will go away & Wells will be like a god in Campbell County. I'm not placing a vote, but there are some good names on the list. Give it time CCHS fans it's long season & wells knows his stuff.

Fo one, there is no way CC upsets AC. Let's make that clear right now. Two, we need Wells gone for the simple fact no one wants to play for him and that is one of the reasons players are going to other schools. He is causing us more players than what people think. People want to get rid of him, but if you don't speak up to the AD and principal and director of schools, then nothing is gonna get done. I personally like Wampler, but heard he burnt to many bridges to come back. I don't know that as a fact, but just what I heard. We gotta get rid of Wells.

Wow this is really heating up. I would like to see Wampler come back, would really like to see Price head coach and OC and then Wampler come back as DC but that ain't gonna happen. His defenses were unreal. The year they went 7-3 i think the offense only averaged like 10 or 11 points a game so with out that defense, lord knows what our record would've been. I like Wells alot, but it probably is about time for him to step aside and let someone else take over but who knows. The guy has been a great coach. If I had a pick it would be probably Justin Price for the simple fact kids are gonna play for him and more than likely you would get Matt with him.

Here's hoping that none of you are aware that current players will read this board. Because if you ARE aware and are posting this nonsense anyway- shame on you, the whole lot of you. While you pretend to care so much about the program and these kids...this kind of speculation only undercuts any chance of success this team could potentially have this year. These are not college or pro athletes we are talking about here. They are 14-17 year old kids. This is simply not the appropriate time or place for this conversation. Hopefully, we can all get behind the team (including the coaches...who ARE part of this team) and pull for them to succeed rather than planning for them to fail.

I am behind the team, just not the coaches. I think Shouse does a good job, but its hard to keep your defense on the field the whole time and expect to win. I am not getting behind Coach Wells. I think he has done good for the program. He moved us up a couple of notches and thats it. Now we need a new guy to take us a few notches further up.

I think Shouse should have been on the list.

After Wartburg beat Oneida, a long time power in their classification, you gotta seriously look at Rodney Ellison.

Davey Gillum who else.

There is no way Gillium would leave a proven winner like Ac to try to build Campbell County.

If everyone only knew. I say otherwise. He does believe that CC kids are just as coachable as AC. I heard in a convo lately comparing the kids here to AC, not exact but "there is NO genetic difference in the boys in 2 counties that touch each other...it's the coaching." The source...let's just say you know

I know that at one time Davey would have loved to have this job, but now I believe he is at his destination job. He will be there for many years. Why would he leave he already has them rolling, the money is great, & the support is unbelievable. No reason to leave. But, Justin & Matt Price have both coached under him & are very good coaches themselves. I know one if not both of them will be head coaches one day.
But, I still say this thread is pointless as long as CCHS has a head coach this discussion means nothing. Once again the season is young & you have to wait until its over to truly evaluate a coach. Good luck to the cougars. I hope they go 7-3.
