Now that Brance is a senior.......What do you think about the quarterback situation next year? Does Ben have what it takes?

CC needs some one to throw around 8-10 times a game.... we have to control the clock with a running game!!

My sources tell me that the Cougars will be running the Triple Option offense, much like what Air Force runs. If this is in face the case, I pose these questions: 1. Would the Cougars really need a "go to guy" or would they just need WR's that can consistently make a couple catches when needed? 2. Is the line good enough to run those type of blocking schemes? 3. Is Ben fast enough to scramble like he would need to?
If the offense can pick up this new game plan quickly, and if the answer is yet to all these questions, I think the Cougars have a legitimate shot at another winning season. The triple option levels the playing field substantially when run effectively.

If the cougars are going to run the triple option, which sounds like a great idea for a school that is almost always at a talent disadvantage because it slows down the defense & forces them to play assignment football. They must first & foremost have a really good strong fullback that can run through tackles, because if you cant make the defense clamp down on that fullback you will never have a chance to run the pitch. You see in the true triple option there are 4 reads & three of them make you give it to the fullback, which leads me into the next point, they better have a really smart QB who can make all of these reads in a split second. He will also have to be tough enough to take some hits, because if ran correctly he should get hit on virtually every play. In response to pearls ?s good name by the way... The #1 thing they need in receivers are guys that are willing to get down the field & block, they will make the difference in 5 yard gains & huge gains. The line will need to be smart enough to recognize who to block & who to let go for the reads & quick enough to get to the 2nd level. If this offense is ran like it is supposed to be the QB shouldnt need to scramble when passing, the pass blocking schemes are not that complicated, most passes come off of play-action & there are usually 7 or 8 guys protecting. With all of that said the question is will CC run this offense like it is supposed to be ran or will they shy away from it if it isnt producing quickly enough? In the years I covered them on the radio they were quick to go away from their offensive game plans if they didnt do well the first couple of series. Here is a good example, the year they did so well you know 7-4. If you have Chris Johnson your game plan is to get him the ball at least 20 times. In that season when Chris carried the ball 20 or more times they were 6-0, less than 20... 1-4 if he struggled early they went away from him, stick with the game plan & this offense can work!

got to have good pulling guards for this offense to work...do not confuse this offense with the wishbone style of offense...it is more like teh wing T...

ah the good ole wing T, thats what we ran with you as the head coach my senior year. I must admit as a receiver I didnt necessarily like it, but as a coach you play towards your talent & we had two very good running backs in Casey Tackett & Daniel Berry & the wing T gave us a chance to have both of them on the field at the same tme. I made the best of my situation as a receiver since we didnt throw many passes I became the King of the blind side (legal) blocks & crack blocks. Hey coach do you have any of the films from that season I would love to get some copies I only have a few.

That sux, but coach if you know anyone who might have a copy of Oak Ridge senior night '95 I would love to have a copy of that, with the passing of my Dad it would be great to have that tape since he was on the track with me before the game. I know it would have to be the old channel 4 copy to have the snior night activities, but I would think one of the players from that year might have it.

unfortunately channel 4/12 doesnt keep the tapes...I will ask around when I see people who might have a copy but I am pretty much low profile out of the public now...I will try though...
