I'm kind of surprised no one has started talking smack about the UT-Florida game this weekend. I for one, will start the trash talking.
Tennessee reminds me of the 2001 Vols. No one, except the players and coaches for UT, expected UT to win that game. Those young men and Coach Fulmer had their backs to the wall. Yet, they one. That's why they play the game.
I predict now that Tennessee will win Saturday. I look for a 35-30 victory over the Gaytors. I have confidence in the Vols.
General Neyland's 7 Maxims
1. The team that makes the fewest mistakes will win.
2. Play for and make the breaks and when one comes your way - SCORE.
3. If at first the game - or the breaks - go against you, don't let up... put on more steam.
4. Protect our kickers, our QB, our lead and our ball game.
5. Ball, oskie, cover, block, cut and slice, pursue and gang tackle... for this is the WINNING EDGE.
6. Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.
7. Carry the fight to our opponent and keep it there for 60 minutes.

Should be a high scoring affair...I'm pleasantly with our receiving corps thus far....I am hoping the defense carries a little momentum over from the 2nd half of the Southern Miss game....We have seen speed with Cal..hopefully that will help us in Gainesville!
TN-42 Fla-38

ae2, I usually think you make a lot of sense in your replies, but sorry, not this time.
I do however agree it should be a high scoring game, at least on Florida's side of the ball.
Florida - 52 Tennessee - 17
A John Chavis defense has never stopped a running QB. The gators will run up the score since it is UT.

ae2, don't you think Fulmer should put those 2nd string linemen in the game early? They really got after it more than the first line did. And if Ainge doesn't start throwing the ball in front of the receivers rather than "just a bit behind" them, it ain't gonna be pretty. If the Vols adhere to Maxims #5 & #7, we'll win 38-34. If not, we'll lose by 14.

I was really impressed with that 2nd string line.....they played really well.....There is a chance of rain in the area at gametime...in the past that would favor TN....but recently Fla has ran the ball almost better than anyone in the conference...so it should be interesting!

There is a chance of rain in the area at gametime...in the past that would favor TN Sorry, I just about fell in the floor when I read this ae2. [glow=green,2,300]Do you remember the debacle in the rain when Casey Clausen fumbled 7 times?[/glow]I do not remember the score in that game, but I think it was pretty bad. Sorry to sound like I disagree with you again. But that game came to mind right away.

ae2, until it is brought up, my memory just does not compute back that far.
I think I remember that game for Clinkscales as a tight end got the ball in the backfield and threw a 45 yard touchdown to set off the route. I forget who he threw it to,maybe Carl Pickens, I am not sure, but it was the play of that year if I remember correctly.
I also think that game set off the furor between Tennessee and Florida. The Florida folks felt that Tennessee ran up the score on them. The rivalry was on after that one.

but i hope im wrong. You were right, Florida did give Tennessee more than the 17 I predicted. But giving up 20 was pretty close, and if Florida had not have just wanted to Stomp Tennessee into the Swamp, I would have been right on their score. But still to get within 10 points total was a pretty good GUESS.
