Spring Football Practice

I hope you guys can make it an annual thing. Spring games can really wet the football appitite for some.

well cammpbell co. must have beaten co-cke co. up pretty good because they called us today to cancel Thursdays scrimmage because of injuries lol...so we will be concluding spring practice on thursday with the maroon & white game

I don't know about beatin them up but they were sure gassed. We had hoped to get in at least another half hour with them when their coach told coach Wells that they had had enough. We go to Halls Friday evening.

I'm looking forward to Cougar football. I try to listen to the games on the radio every week. I sure wish the Cougars the best of luck this season. Maybe I'll get a chance to bring my sons over to see a game this year.

Spring practice concluded today with a 14-14 tie in the maroon & white game here at Bearden. We did play one overtime period like they do in the NCAA with each team getting one possession from the 25, but neither team scored. The white team which is the side I was on scored on a 1 yd run with 27 seconds left in regulation & the xtra point sent it into OT. When info comes in on the Cougars scrimmage at Halls let me know how it went.

I'm looking forward to Saturday's spring game at jellico and Tuesday's spring game at CCHS.

Josh's update below...he was there~

The first team only scored one time for Halls but that was because CC first team secondary was not in and they ran a counter and it sucked in the corner who was suppose to contain the back inside so a linebacker could drill him. Other than that the defense was impressive and the offense even was moving the ball well at times.

You have to take in account they both started at their own thirty yard line meaning they would have to mount a 70 yard drive which is pretty tough with a good defense.

Their first team scored on our seconds, their twos scored, as well as their thirds. Comparing the firsts, we moved the ball better and stayed in their territory more. Things are looking good for the season.

Thanks Pat for coming to our Blue & White game. We had a great time and were happy to see you there. The Blue won by a score of 12 to 8. The white was rolling but ran out of time.
We've got a little more speed than we're used to and a lot more head knockin' boys than we've had the last couple of years. It was fun, it was loud, and it was a big boost for the boys. We're looking forward to the fall.

I hope this season dont turn out like the other ones. We do great in Spring practice and thats it. We dont show up in the season.

Me and the kids are feelin' a little down today. They don't get to knock heads again until fall practice begins. It's gonna be a long wait. Although the Devils have "not shown up" for the last couple of seasons, I really believe they'll be different this year. The attitude is completly different. That's been our goal this spring. To change the attitude and make football fun again and instill the Blue Devil Pride that has been missing for a while. I wish LaFollette, Jacksboro, Bearden, Corbin and whoever else sees this the best of luck this season. I'll be rootin' for the Owls every game except one.....we come to their house on Sep. 13th.
