Congrats to the Owls for their great seasons.
Lets give out some credit for this year.
Robbie Heatherly and his assistant principle (sorry, I do not know him or his name).
The coaches of all these teams that did great jobs of getting teamwork out of the kids.
All the parents that held their kids back in order to give them an advantage over other schools that did not do the same just to get an advantage in sports, regardless of the kids grades. (This has been admitted by several LaFollette parents)
Also, the parents that raised their kids to play with the hand dealt them, and excelled anyway.
The parents themselves. All those parents that go to the games and events to support their kids. This means the world to the kids that Moms and Dads and Brothers and Sisters and friends are there to watch and support them. LaFollette takes a good crowd with them everywhere they go.

LaFollette takes a good crowd with them everywhere they go. as I sat here and pondered whether or not tobite my tongue Ifinally decided to ponder in print... any and all players who participated for teh OWLS of LMS this year did so under teh guidelines of teh TMSAA (either that or teh coaches lied on teh TMSAA eligibility forms---which I seriously doubt)...there are rules and regulations that refer to "holdbacks" ...these rules and guidelines apply to all TMSAA member schools...no school or player has an advantage if they abide by these rules and guidlines...to imply other wise is somewhat ridiculous...does a 15 year old have an advantage over a 13 year old...yes, more than likely that is true..but if teh 15 year old meets teh rules/guidelines/specifications of teh TMSAA then no violation has occurred...

I am sorry, but I do not remember stating that a violation has occurred.
I do however remember stating that several LaFollette parents have said they did hold their children back because they KNEW it would give them an advantage in sports, regardless of their grades, the sports advantage IS the reason they held them back. Also, some stated that more parents should do the same.
So, as you stated, 15 year olds going out and competing against 13 and 14 years old have a big advantage. Thusly, did they really have such great years or did they merely have the kind of year that they should have had. I choose to believe that they all had great years, with the proviso that they also should have dominated other teams that did not do the same with their children over the years back of this.
I have read the other threads were there was a great amount of sportsmanship amongst the parents and the kid from the different schools. That is a wonderful thing no matter what the situation.
One more point that I would like to make, you proved a point that I was trying to make. Ain't it amazing that you chose to dwell on the negative aspect of my post and had nothing to say about the positive aspect of the reply.
Do Robbie and the coaches not deserve a pat on the back, yet you decided to not even comment on that. Amazing.

The following is a copy of a private message to me from Owl's Vixen:
You are an absolute jerk! I know you know who we are..so be the big man you think you are and shut up or put up!!!
I'm sure you know where to find us!
JERK
It sure is good to know that not every has to resolve to this kind of low class attack during the course of a discussion on issues that are based on FACT.
It is amazing that someone has to resort to what amounts to a threat just because they disagree with an issue that I brought up for the sake of discussion.
This kind of stuff is why this board should probably be called LaFolletteSports instead of campbellcountysports. At least the newspaper does call itself the LaFollette Press, because it sure does not report on the county except for small excerpts. Both cover the rest of the county as a side note, while very obviously favoring LaFollette over the rest of the county.
I will keep my discussion on the up side and not make low class threats when trying to discuss a subject. This board is here for discussion, no matter whether you agree with what someone else says or not. That is why you are allowed to respond to something that another member post. When you disagree with another member, try to keep your thoughts to making an good discussion instead of this kind of cheap message.

I don't think orangewashed said anything to bad. He never mentioned any violations. He may ahve ribbed some parents a bit but hey he wasn't nearly as harsh as most of the people who were on this site trying to knock the Owl's achievement this year. Congrats on great years to all of the athletes. Great article it reminds me of the one the Times did for the football team the year they made the playoffs.

On the football side of the coin, I told all the coaches coming in that this would be the year. I called the exact win/loss total for the season and with the exception of Robertsville bringing an extra 5-6 players to play us, where we should have been. JB will even say that they shrunk in the Championship game. On the basketball side if it hadn't have been for Luke to take some pressure of Lucas it might have been Jacksboro there instead, not meaning to take anything away from the role players. As for track, the only hurter there was the lack of depth in some of the events.
Regardless of how the Owls did, what started all the hype was the fact that the new administration (especially Robbie) was behind the athletic program. Coming into a dead broke program and coming out of the season with much more than you had going in is testament to that. Two special thank yous should be mentioned, Tammy Teague for all the work organizing the fund raising and to Dwayne Asher and family for feeding the coaches and the players during football season. There were lots of parents involved in all this including working on the stadium and decorating. The kids put in all the work leading up to the year that all the sports teams had.
I wouldn't do anything different in my situation regardless of what some people think. The opportunity is there for the taking so why not give your child the ability to excel. It will only boost their confidence level and give them some additional leadership lessons. The parents are the ones who have to suffer through their child being at home an extra year instead of being at college. Some people who have been around the sports world should understand and some will never learn from their mistakes, riding both sides of the fence hurts when you fall.
