cchs4ever, i'm gonna give you the benefit of the doubt and hope that you are using sarcasm with that statement! They play, Memphis, Texas, Oklahoma St, and Ohio St. Not to mention the mid-major teams, that will be contending for their conference championship! So once again I hope you was being sarcastic!

they also play Tusculum,Middle Tennessee,Fordham,Belmont or UNCW Nashville,Coppin State, Louisiana-Lafayette,Murray State,Western Kentucky,East Tennessee State

They better get as many of those opponents as possible because I don't think that they are going to sneak up on anybody this year! Once the teams of the SEC see Pearl's system a few times, they will adjust and the honeymoon will be over.

Listen I am no Ut fan at all, But to say that is an easy schedule, Whoa I really question cchs4ever knowledge of sports. I mean lets look at it, Tusculum is an exhibition!! Fordham has 2 preseason ALL A-10 players, Belmont was in the NCAA tournament last year, Coppin State won their conference regular season title, Lousiana-Lafayette has played in their conference championship game the past 3 years, Murray State-NCAA tournament last year, also has the preseason player of the year in the OVC, Shawn Withersthingy, Western Kentucky who made it to the semi-finals of the NIT last season before being put out by South Carolina. ETSU will play the VOLS tough like they do every big school they play, Just ask some Cincinatti fans about it.
Sorry for the rant, but please know what you are talking about and have a legitimate point first!!!!!!!!!

Also MTSU has the preseason player of the yr in the sunbelt on their team.

I'm not a ut fan either, but I don't think you can question cchs4ever's knowledge of sports because of their opinion! The way you are pumping up those mid-majors, sounds like you have been to the Lou & Phil's school of pour mouthing.
Not to discredit Pearl, ut just has to learn to have a winning program and that will take time. UT really is a football school, right?

lmsbballr let me explain why I can question someones knowledge, If someone puts something and has no logical reasoning, guess what you are setting your self up to get called out. So words of advice, Have some kind of knowledge you base your thoughts on, not just the name of the school. For goodness sakes, who did u want Bruce Pearl to schedule, Robertsville, Jefferson, Lake City and Burchfield?  ? Is Ut a football school, absolutely, but so is Florida,Texas,Ohio St., Those schools are having great success in both so why cant UT? |

I'm sure every college team has a few cupcakes on their schedule. No team that plays in a major conference has a really easy schedule.

college basketball is much different than college football competition-wise...many of the mid majors have players that were overlooked by the "big boys"...sometimes a pretty good HS player may not get as much publicity as some of the higher profile players in the bigger schools or higher classifications or bigger metro areas...plus depth doesnt always play such a big role in basketball as it does football (squad sizes/scholarship numbers)...

I'm just gettin in on this convo and see that there is some talk about Summitt, so of course, I must comment. To put it nicely, Summitt is a d**e. Her and that DeMoss woman were obviously having fun together, and I dont mean playin 21. Pat is just a egotistical coach who is full of herself and will never win another NC as long as she lives. She thinks she is the stuff just cuz she got her name on the court. I'll think it will look alot better when they call it "The Pearl Summitt" puttin the REAL basketball coach first. Oh, and if you dont think she is egotistical, then explain to me why she wanted one of the new orange drapes that cover the tunnels taken down so that they could use their ballon tunnel?

'nuff said!!! |
