VETERAN RETURNS TO WWE TO REPLACE BILL DEMOTT AS DEEP SOUTH TRAINER by Mike Johnson @ 5:06:00 PM on 1/22/2007
Dr. Tom Prichard has been hired as the new head trainer of WWE developmental territory Deep South Wrestling, replacing Bill DeMott, who was released over the weekend.
Prichard, a well known veteran for a number of Southern-based promotions including Continental, Memphis, and Smoky Mountain Wrestling among others may be best remembered as member of the Heavenly Bodies tag team alongside Stan Lane and Jimmy Del Ray. The duo of Prichard and Del Ray debuted with the WWF in 1993, working a short program with the Steiner Brothers.
The Bodies departed for Extreme Championship Wrestling in late 1995, but Prichard was quickly hired back by the WWF to wrestle under the guise of Bodydonna Zip with the late Chris "Skip" Candido.
Prichard moved on to working in the WWE offices, grooming talent for a number of years and handling other front office duties.
Prichard was let go in 2004 during the changeover internally that took place when John Laurinaitis replaced Jim Ross as the head of WWE's Talent Relations.
Prichard returned to the indy scene, working backstage and wrestling for a number of different groups, including the WrestleReunion conventions, as well as running a number of his own training seminars around the country.

I had the pleasure of sharing a locker room with Dr. Tom at my last ever match in SECW, which also turned out to be my last match. He is a class act and I wish him well in this endeavor.
