Many great coaches throughout the history of sports have wondered this question. Most coaches will agree that it is better for team chemistry to know how to handle the adversity of a loss.
What do you think?

I could go both ways...but I never think a loss is good, especially if a team hasnt experienced one...How would they react?? It could help them, however they could just blow up,and not show up the rest of the year!

Personally I think...of course you strive to be undefeated~ And no one tries to lose just to have that loss to grow on. But if it comes to that...and they lose a game...They should see it as a stepping stone. And learn from that. It should make them hungry for that next win! That's what a good athlete would do~

You might as well be undefeated. It is too late to learn to deal with a loss come tournament time.

An early loss, especially in a nondistrict game, can be a valuable lesson. I think the Owls are to deep in the season to worry about that lesson now.

Losing causes fingerpointing, especially this late in the year.

I really didn't intend for this to just be about the Owls, but it makes for good discussion.

as a team you of course don't want to lose a game, but if you do lose, it can show a team that they can be beat and may be able to make them work even harder. but as a fan, i would love to see my team go undefeated. but it's better to lose during the season when it doesn't hurt as bad as losing in a tournament which ends your season.

Like I'm qualified to talk about undefeated seasons..... But I believe that it is more motivation to preserve your undefeated record. One loss, two losses, what's the difference. But UNDEFEATED is a heck of a title.

Very few teams get to claim to fame of being undefeated. It has been ten years since that has happened in Eagle football. Fortunately owls basketball is giving the county sopmething to be proud of.

a fact to remeber about the question... undefeated or not before the tournament...
if you enter the tourney undefeated then you still have that target on your back and everyone will want to be the one that puts the W on your record...and then most of the time even with the one loss, your sesaon is over... if you enter the tournament with a loss, then the opponents motivation of being the first team to hand a W on you is gone... but overall, there is nothing like AN UNDEFEATED CHAMPIONSHIP SEASON!!! I, like redhound, am speaking from a football viewpoint... a team can lose a game (or several) and still earn the title of champion by winning the tournament....afterall, a basketball season has several more games than a football season... but to me as a football minded poster, give me the thrill of remembering an UNDEFEATED SEASON---or two or or three or...
