Part of me wants to say the coach should be allowed more discipline and control. I remember being jerked off the floor by my hair. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS AT ALL, but I sure listened to him and quitting never entered by mind. There were alot of things that were unfair, but I loved ball. Life throws alot at you, how you react in those times determines the strength of your character. In the old days when the coach said jump you ask "How High". These days if a coach looks at a player wrong its a lawsuit. How can you expect to get a coach with this type of disrespect.

I know J. Wright very well. He does not kiss parents butts. He works his players savagely and demands total respect. He yells and screams, but also encourages and teaches will he does it. I do not think he would be a good fit for this bunch. He is old school and sweat. They would be boycotting him also.

If a coach can prove himself a winner then his freedoms expand greatly. I have been a screaming coach all my life but I never disrespected a child while doing that. There is a great difference in this, I have never put a hand on a kid unless it was one of mine. This was done for the other players benefit most of the time because my kids knew what I wanted from a certain situation. With a losing record at hand yelling could be taken the wrong way. When a new coach is sought they need to have no knowledge of what has transpired here and now.

But people are alot more lenient when you are winning! Just look at some of the coaches right now!

If we really want to make a difference in Campbell County, it needs to start with the youth and young adults. Forget the Young Republicans and Young Democrats and young adults groups like that - they are great organizations, but they are focused (as they should be) on their own agendas. By simply having this forum, Patrick has provided the access for several of us to share opinions, agree to disagree on various issues, etc. One thing it does show is the strong passion for Campbell County, our home.
The Boys & Girls Club for Campbell County is an exceptional idea and wonderful base to start. The young adults that frequent this board need to get "on board" right now to help this excellent concept become a reality. By getting in on the ground floor, you can have a voice in the direction the organization goes.
Perhaps Pat can organize a get together for the posters on here that care so much for Campbell County and the future of our home county. We can share ideas, make a gameplan and get some of the great ideas that have expressed here off cyberspace and make them start happening.

I say we stage an armed revolt against the Campbell County power structure.

CCHS is still recovering from one armed revolt. I dont think any of us will ever get over that day, that moment, that second. What we've been through in one year is more than other schools in their entire history. It's a miricale that the students, staff and the administration can focus on anything at all.

i agree, we need a boys and girls club that would be great. im all for it. we all need to look into it and try to get together and do what it takes to start one or something like it.
kids at a young age need positive thought behind them that says you can do whatever you set your mind to. when a kid says something like, "i want to play college ball" most adults just look at them and say "you'll never make it with your build/speed, etc..." that just creates doubt in a kids mind and when they mess up they think "ahhh what the heck"and they just give up.
i think good coaching goes much farther than just coaching on the field it's also starts in the hearts and minds. kids need to know they can make it and need support. with this they will get heart and that is what we really need. keep in mind nothing great was never achieved be being "realistic".

I cant help but feel as though some of you need to throw your hat in the ring and get your own teams. look at how many children you could help "talk is cheap" get behind the boys club it has a great reputation in scott & knox co. coaching is just too easy setting in the bleachers it just might be time to join the action and the kids could benefit. every thing that is wrong with jr. pro starts in the mirror, not one person ever wants to accept the fact that their child will not succeed in a particular sport and when they dont their pride is hurt. The knoxville teams are so organized that when our children go there to play at the high school level they get beat, folks there is alot of ball outside this community and if you want to succeed you must fully apply yourself. The children and alot of coaches dont think it impossible to compete they feel like our children just need the help everyone in CC can provide. I Love This Town and its people!!friends and family.
