She needed to be gone some time ago. I don't understand why the school board is so high on her

And the amount of our tax dollars that pay her is just sickening!!! All the while, classes have trouble buying textbooks and supplies.

I think that she should work for free in a kitchen or janitor or something to repay some of the money that she has been paid. There is no way you can ever justify her making over $120k per year. NO WAY, NO HOW!!!!

Or better yet, pay for several people that we really need working in the school system?
Did you see the salaries that were printed in the paper a few weeks ago?

Well I think we do have to pay a pretty penny to draw in a good director of schools. I don't she's the one though.

I think a "modest" $75,000 a year salry would get us a good director. I still think it should be an elected position. Appointment gives 10 people(the school board) way too much power.

If we are gonna shell out over $100k a year I want somebody that really improves things.

I'm not a teacher so I don't know a lot about Dr. Judy's performance but I will say that she's served hot dogs at Jellico football games on more than one occasion. What do you think..... $75,500 maybe?

Not the thread I was expecting to see on a "sports" message board, but still a good place to post endless words. I have no experience with the current superintendent of the Campbell County system, save from what I can glean from the LaFollette Press. I will point out that $120,000 is a low end salary for such a position, I would imagine that the State requires a certain pay grade for the position with the same law that defines the position and requires it being an appointed position. Loathar's valuing the position at $75,000.00 is a major low ball, the position requires a PhD or EdD, and no one with a terminal degree would look at an administration position offering less than six figures. The current person may not be earning $120,000 from current performance, but dropping the pay will only warrant less qualified and capable persons. The idea of making the position elected by a popular vote eliminates any chance of getting a person remotely qualified to run a modern school system.

I agree, she may not be the right person for the job, but we should consider the effect of someone unqualified and under paid. The improvement must start at the top but implemented in the begininng (elementary). We need major improvemnts across the board, education improvements need to start in Kindergarten. You get what you pay for. I would pay 200,000 annual if we had the right person.
