Why isnt there some talk about this one. This game is so big that Im disappointed we dont have a Bye so I can come watch it. 10 years ago I would have wanted the Cougars to destroy AC. Now I don't feel as bitter as I once did. There are coaches at both schools that I once coached when they played at JMS. & after talking to Coach Gillum some during his time at Scott High, he is a very good person & even though he is one of the original I-75 heroes, its just hard to pull against him.
With that said I am cheering for the Cougars, I mean I am an alum there & always want them to win. But, Im predicting AC to get the win because of their showing against a tough Mo-East team.
Wartburg plays at Oneida, but as soon as it is over I will be on my phone trying to find out who won this one. Hopegfully we will be celebrating a win for the Dogs at that time.

Nobody on here is surprising. The county is just apathetic about sports I guess. This is a Huge game and the atmosphere should be electric. I don't know what the deal is with the community not using this forum for sports talk. As far as I know there is no other such forum. Oh well. I say this rivalry will keep the Coigs in it but they won't pull it off this year.

i totally see your point coach but that wasnt a very strong morristown team it will be a great game if cougars offense can be productive and play around the way they did at white county they come out with a win cause when our defense gets rest they are pretty tough....... its been fifteen years since cc and ac have played cause anderson never would put us on the scheduel and our players know that they will be ready

It wasn't all AC not putting CC on the schedule...a certain administrator has/had a vendetta against them, but wouldn't play because he saw/sees it as a lose/lose situation. CC had little to no chance to beat AC in the past; so when they lost it would just increase the outflow of talent South. Now in the recent past (4-5 years) that may not be the case and the Admin. can not keep them from playing a district game. It will be a good game for both schools, and a great rivalry game.

Let's Go Cougars!!
We will have to see on the field tonight who is more ready. But I know the Cougars are raring to go. This being such a big rivalry. I don't think it will matter who is picked to win. Who has the stats ...just like when LMS and JMS play...two totally different teams! Our D has put it on their shoulders and they intend to bring it!

Some observations from the stands. Fan support was pretty good. Coach Shouse does a solid job with his defense, even though they gave up 40+. The offense was inept. The system works as long as u are leading or are close, but a team can not come back or quick strike in the flexbone. It relies on a mistake by the front seven for success. The Evans and Hicks boys are really solid players. Wells has built a classy program and the administration seemed to be interacting and united in the football effort. CC has some solid young talent and good numbers in the underclasses; the future is bright for Cougar football. They do need to re-think their offensive attack, in my humble opinion because they weren't just outmatched out there last night by talent. If you can only manage 6 offensive points on a blown defense then you need to reevaluate. On that nice run by Nolan, a solid player, there were two defenders in one gap, leaving one gap wide open. To his credit he saw it and made a heckuva play, but you can't rely on that to carry you in an offensive season.

Was Anderson County that impressive in the second half or did they wear us down with more bodies? I was shocked to see that they scored 34 points in the second half. Good luck Cougars the rest of the way......

AC eliminated some mistakes in the second half. CC played a lot of kids only one way; so I wouldn't think they were any more fatigued than AC was.

It looked to me that CC played a number of kids both ways. This Includes the QB and the back up QB. We have no depth and will continue to have problems until they start teaching football at Campbell County as a whole. I mean look at the number of missed blocks, stand up blocks, and arm tackles. This is poor teaching.
This problem begins at the pee wee level. Coach Wells should have input on what the lower teams are doing so they have a good start when they come to the High school. I know that this is how a number of successful schools do it. Successful High School programs start with successful Middle School and Pee Wee programs. They have to be on the same page though.
Coach , get involved with the lower levels.
History will repeat itself. Give it two years and we'll have a 500 season again. We’ll be good for a season or two and it'll be back to the bottom.
Here’s to the young men on the field. You guys are great!

Coach Kesserling told me that Coach Kerr refused to play CCHS.

Well that may be so, but I happened to have been present more recently when Kerr was still coaching and an attempt was made to at least schedule a scrimmage. It did not/would not happen.
I know coach K was notorious for making a tough schedule when he was at CC. So I would not doubt that he was willing to play AC. The fact that many "higher ups" did not want it to happen is what was the main factor...I do not think it was either coach at any time that didn't want to play. Kerr, Kesselring, nor Wells would back down from any team based on their non-region scheduling.
