I don't know the whole story, but I have to agree with most of the people on this thread. To be a good coach, you have to be in charge of the team. Not the kids, not the parents, not the booster club, but the coach has to be in charge. I have told all of my kids on the football team that if they don't like the way things are to just take it to the house. I don't cuss around the kids, but I know coaches in this county who do. That's just my personal choice. When I was in high school, an occasional cuss word added urgency to I disagreeignment. I'm not for any coach getting fired for not conforming to the parents' expectations. If the parents want a puppet coach then they should screen the applicants and get ready for some losing seasons. I had a parent threaten me with a whoopin' last year and then apologize after the game and tell me that he was wrong. I know that y'all's side of the mountain is a little different than us, but kids are kids and coaches have to coach them the best way they can. Any disputes between coaches and parents should be handled between coaches and parents. That's my 2ยข worth. we aint that much different...I totally agree withyur coaching philosophy...

My comment didn't sound quite right. The difference I was referring to was the support of and participation in athletics in general. It's like pulling teeth over here to get mom & dad to bring the kids to practice and most of them don't really care what we're doin'. You sure don't see many Jellico moms on here do ya? I've got a plan to try to change that.....we'll see. I'd love to see this many parents involved in our program. The only time I hear a bunch of moms & dads calling for my head on a platter is when they're mad at me for practicing in the rain or when their kid didn't get a special award at the banquet. (tough life ain't it?)

Below is taken from the online edition of the Elizabethton Star, 26 June 2003. The link to the fill artical is here archives.starhq.com/html/localnews/0603/062603Blevins.htmlBlevins became embroiled in a controversy late last year involving she and Elizabethton High School Principal Edwin Alexander. Alexander had filed a complaint against Blevins in November alleging he was harassed after being contacted by school board attorney Patrick Hull regarding a complaint filed against him by another high school employee. The attorney who investigated Alexander's complaint found no wrongdoing by Blevins. Alexander appealed the ruling to the board of education, which voted 4-1 at its January board meeting to uphold the ruling clearing Blevins. The high school's director of vocational education, Adeline Hyder, had also filed a discrimination complaint against Alexander in November stating that Alexander had questioned her integrity, loyalty, and her friendship with Blevins. An investigation into the complaint by another attorney found Alexander had improperly confronted Hyder regarding a conference Following results of the investigation finding, Blevins suspended him as EHS principal on March 30. The suspension caused an uproar with roughly 250 students walking out of school the next days after learning of the suspension. Students and parents continued to protest in front of the high school and around the city for three days until Alexander's suspension was lifted on April 3.

what's so funny is that mosts pro-pierce posters on this board was all fired up about the school board meeting and still had the wrong info. the only person that was talking was the murray kids dad. this boycott of the game was to draw attention to serious problems at cchs. don't any of you get it? All the new cougs have quit one time or another because of pierce. Hatcher sat at carringtons house that night with the boys blasting green and Pierce. pierce can get tv coverage and that's fine. more bad publicity for cc. if any of the boys told the real truth on tv then we would definatley have an outside internal investigation and stuff would come out that no one ever even considered, they are not talking because enough has been done. They gave up something special, and about no talent? last year all you were cheering for the cougs and i remember the student section heckling pierce at a game this year trying to get him to play one of the kids. Lots of hypocrits on this board. I sit in the stands and hear all the complaints about pierce all the time. And after this is all done he will start his same old crap all over again. no one mentioned the jv at clinton, pierce did a great job thanking those freshman he left on the team. Nolans dad was exstatic, play varsity starters on JV??? why? din't those freshman deserve more playing time?? Hats off to the cougs for their win. i hope there are many more to come.

I would still cheer the seven on if they were playing. Just like I will cheer on the new team.

a nasty rumor flying around is that blevins is looking for seale's head to roll after the first of the year. (is this a maybe because she is the bad guy who left the bball players out to dry after they believed her?) Looks like a previous post that described a situation from her last position. she must be getting good at it by now. after the tragedy last year and seale and pierce laying their life on the line will the good guys win out? or will santa satan strike again?

makes you wonder does anyone check out references anymore? would anyone there have given her more than a subpar score? Or maybe to get her out of the county they made her look good.

as far as anyone speaking at the board, apparently to be able to speak you have to submit an agenda address request so many days ahead. hopefully our presence there said something about supporting our kids.
