pat ...... got some inside stuff for ya ..... they are being sneaky and telling everyone that because "this issue" is not on the agenda that it will not be discussed ..... now, this is a big ole fat lie .... i know for a FACT one of the seven players as well as a parent are speaking to the board .... so far nobody has been given permisssion to speak who is on the "other" side!! They are doing this hoping that no one will show except who THEY want there... i have also heard throught the grapevine that it will be earlier than planned and they will shut the doors to the public once the meeting begins ..... OOOHHHHH .... we better pull together as a community and NOT LET THEM DO THIS TO US ... regardless of what side we are on! Let's start a thread with a poll... are you attending tomorrow night's board meeting ..... i'd like to get a feel for what our members and guests are planning ...... every body i have talked with personally has said not yeah, but H*** YEAH I'm going!!!!

actually, kevin's mom did buy the stuff and had told kevin to throw it away, he took it to school instead. she had told me that herself, it was just a bad situation where if she knew this they could have set down and discussed the ramifications of improperly ingesting the substance. i bought my son's but i didn't buy what kevin had been taking as it was a stronger substance, but we did discuss the correct way of taking it and the use was stopped when the practices started and the weights weren't as used as earlier in the summer. there wasn't really anyone to "blame" for Kevin's condition, he was just trying to be the best he could be and like a lot of people think if a little is good alot is better. Hopefully he is on his way to recovery with a lesson learned by everyone.

I don't know the whole story, but I have to agree with most of the people on this thread. To be a good coach, you have to be in charge of the team. Not the kids, not the parents, not the booster club, but the coach has to be in charge. I have told all of my kids on the football team that if they don't like the way things are to just take it to the house. I don't cuss around the kids, but I know coaches in this county who do. That's just my personal choice. When I was in high school, an occasional cuss word added urgency to I disagreeignment. I'm not for any coach getting fired for not conforming to the parents' expectations. If the parents want a puppet coach then they should screen the applicants and get ready for some losing seasons. I had a parent threaten me with a whoopin' last year and then apologize after the game and tell me that he was wrong. I know that y'all's side of the mountain is a little different than us, but kids are kids and coaches have to coach them the best way they can. Any disputes between coaches and parents should be handled between coaches and parents. That's my 2ยข worth.

Thank you, although Brance sure could have used an oxygen tank. I'm not saying a lot about this whole situation since I have been on both sides of the fence. I will just say let's support the Cougar players no matter who they are. It had to be a hard decision for the previous boys as well as the new ones who may have been in a difficult position by stepping in. It was a hard fought game Fri. night and all the boys hustled and I just love the floor burns!

According to the Sunshine Law they cannot shut the doors to the public. I will be posting the agenda later this evening.

nice to see stinersmom on here .... who were you responding to about the whole football supplement stuff this past fall? what kevin's mom bought was different than what he was taking at the field house ... she did tell him to throw it away and he took it to the field house ... i have discussed with many of the boys about the situation as well as wells himself .... there were many rules broken or that went against policy ... fleming's mom (and i know her) had no idea kevin was taking the supplements ... many parents didn't know ... i know that she tried to handle things the right way and wells was pretty much the only one who cooperated ... what was sad about that situation as in the one at hand, there weren't many people concerned about the "child" involved.... people usually don't get concerned until it is actually their child in danger ... i know fleming's mom went to lenghts to have the head of the training dept. at ut to come and educate our team but the powers that be just let that slide by ... that whole situation just as this one turned from bad to worse BECAUSE OF OUR FINE CENTRAL OFFICE STAFF .... we all know who ... i'm not sure how kevin is doing but i hope everthing turns out alright. he is a good athlete and deserves to play. but let's do remember that our children are our children and we really should have the say and knowledge about what they do or do not put in their bodies.

, Did someone say signs?? there has been signs at cchs for years now... 24 losses last year. and 20+ the year before that...and of course the weave will give us all a 5-7 win season to be proud of. everyone loved johnny majors until Fulmer won it all in 98...... the kids that are playing now are good kids, the ones that left were good kids too. some had high GPA's some had alot of faith and belief. but if everyone on here wants the new kids to succeed in basketball they need a better coach.. come on folks we all know Pierce is a descent person, but he has zero people skills, and no motivational training. having him stay on if we lose 20+ games this year -- ;)is like Eating at KFC everyday and wondering why you can't lose wieght. like buying a amish guy an electric drill for christmas. none of which makes much sense....... all i am saying is that is if coach is all that.. lets see how he finishes the season with a little bit of pressure on his job... if he wins he should come back next year.. but if we have another 20 loss season ... then its time to stop the bleeding...

How many games will Coach P win this year , including what he has at this point? ( 3 now) odds??
5-8--- safest bet, the new kids will hustle, and play hard 8-10--- maybe streaching it, but who knows how the ball may bounce 10-15---- now this would be a great feat, not seen that many in a bit 15-20--the RedSocks did come back down 4-0 to the yankees in 2003. 20+wins-- more likely to teach a 1 legged monkey to ride a unicycle
these stats are not availible in las vegas yet--------

I still don't see why he would be replaced midseason because of his record

Exactly, at the end of the season if the school board goes through the process of removal, whatever, but midseason when you just had 7 quit because of the coach,or so they say. I dont know, I just do not get it.

I talked to a school board member about this last night and he said that this matter is up to the principal of the school and that it's his opinion that he has nothing to say about the matter. I don't know how the rest of them feel about it but he doesn't plan to do anything about the matter. Has anyone talked to other board members?

I talked with a board member who said if pierce was dismissed after this season then wells would have to be too because when you look at "overall" records they both have too many seasons on the losing side. That conversation took place Monday night. Later that night a different sb member actually returned my call and said coaches at the hs level are not dismissed due to win/loss records especially if the only sports that actually have winning records are girls bball and track ..... went on to say that from what they had heard pierce had done nothing more than what any other coach does in the same type situation .. "take it to the house" and a** comment ... in addition, they went on to say that with all the wells controversy in the fall, they certainly COULD NOT risk a law suit since there was no repremand there ....... in my opinion the "big cheif" at the central office says what everybody wants to hear and ultimately causes a lot of trouble ... some sb members are right there with her and others ARE NOT!!! Instead of getting rid of any coaches .... why don't we get rid of her??
