If UT doesn't play in the SEC Championship next season Fulmer should feel his seat getting warm. With the amount of talent that is in Knoxville we should be National contenders every year.
Just by the way...I saw someone say that CC was a middle of the road program...IF that were true wouldn't CC AT LEAST BE .500 heck that would be an acomplishment with the recent history down there.

In response to Redhound, if you would have read the rest of the sentence It said CC is a middle of the road at best no matter who is the coach. That means at best, wasnt implying thats what it has been recently.

Good post...but the fact remains that it seems that every season since 97/98 the Vols have been the example of what ifs and near misses. They have been on the verge so many times one has to ask what is keeping them from breaking through. We all know that there is talent to spare year in year out; UT has the pick of the nation's litter of HS football players. With that said it must fall on coaches for his team consistently failing to reach goals/potential.

well think about this, notre dame has lost 9 consecutive bowl games, as of last night, ohio state is what, 0-9 against sec teams. are those coaches on the hot seat? didn't think so. what's the difference here? you say fulmer can't win bowl games, well does that mean the same thing about ohio state and notre dame, there are what, 119 teams in the ncaa, well, we're in the top 25 almost every year. that's not to bad at all. sure, who doesn't want to see another 98 season, but let's not get to greedy. peyton manning never won against florida or won a national championship, so does that mean that they should have had another qb? the games we lost, we should have one. but the players are the ones on the field, not the coaches. and they have proven over the years that they know very well what they're doing. so, if you think the vols have a bad coaching staff, look at some of the records of teams ranked higher then us. a few years back, penn state wanted joe patirno gone, just look at him now. and look at what conference we're in, the sec has become the toughest conference in college football, and it's not like the 90's anymore where it's just us and florida, every team in the sec is a threat, even kentucky now, and now arkansas's back. every week in the sec is a fight for your life!

also, auburn wanted rid of their coach a couple of years ago................................................... that's kinda ironic when you go to think what that coaching staff has been able to do since then.

Alotta teams would love to have 9 wins...but is that what we are striving for??? 9 wins......Your right about the "if's".....what "if" Air Force gets the 2pt conversion...what "if" KY dont get a delay of game penalty......so the "if's" could go both ways!

In the coming years I predict UT FOOTBALL WILL DROWN IN THE POOL OF MEDIOCRITY.

At the rate we are going I have to agree. Winning a share of the SEC East title is the best we have been able to pull off and even that seems distant. I can't see it getting much better and that makes me sad.

Well I know how bad it is to recruit on paper...and I am sure you are too. That falls on the coaches as well to do a little more homework. It seems to me that they just have talent out the ears and do nothing with it. I hope we see as marked improvement from this year to next as we saw from last year to this. I think Cutcliffe is playing a major role on that staff.

you all have no faith at all in your teams. what you all don't seem to understand is that any given team can win on any given day against anyone. and the team (vols) that you don't think is doing anything good just finished the regular season 2nd in the sec east. and by the way, did you all forget that the team that we were behind in the sec east won the national championship very convincing against ohio state. that's saying something when the one team ahead of you in your division in the east are national champs.
