you're probalbly right ae, one of my all time great quotes from coach pierce took place when he was talking to someone about a kid on the team-------- he said and i quote" i have run off alot better ballplayer than that kid" or " i dont care what people say " im not going anywhere"

As a parent I thought Len would change. I never thought he would take it out on the kids. he has demoralized them and put them in a position to fail. He talked like he would do something new and my kid bought into it, then after my son talked to the coach he went from starting every varsity game last year to not playing at all and replacing freshman on the JV team who were kicked off without reason. I do not see how this can be perceived as anything else but picking on a kid. He told them in the locker room that if your parents do not like what I am doing then tell them to kiss my a$$. He told the kids that if they did not like it to go to the house he could get any 5 from the hallways to play. He did it before and he will do it again. the TEAM includes the players not just the coach. A coach who does not listen and is not receptive to listen is a coach who cannot learn or grow or win. He told them to go to the house. They listened, the went to the house. My child thought he could make a change. He thought he could make a difference. He thought Len would see his hard work and dedication and put on a new pair of glasses and they would all benefit. Unfortunatley, he is not a realistic child. I asked my child if he was sure that he wanted to do this. He said to me it was either this or he would go live with his dad. "I" raised corey, not his dad, I will piss off anyone, do anything, to keep my child from leaving. If any of you critics out there have anything to say just ask what you would do if your child was fixing to move away from you after everything you have done. Corey made this decision and I supported him. I have always been the parent and I have always done what I thought was right, I am not perfect but I believe that if everyone knew everything what has gone on that they would see it differently. The kids wanted to walk away rather than have him coach and treat them the way he was. these kids have practiced and devoted more than the coaches. I have lost people very close to me and it has broke my heart but in the end I love my sons more than life and they are who I am here to do what I think I have to do. We only done what Len told us to do, Take our kids to the house. We did. He found 5 more kids and thats fine.. There are consequences to every behavior whether they are good or bad. My son says he can live with the consequences and that is good enough for me. I love my sons and do not want to lose them but I will not see them treated in this manner. They are just kids and Len is an adult who should know better than to do the things he has been doing. IMO he is a bully, there is a diference between a bully and a firm, good coach. Are kids wanted to take a stand. They did but the TEAM are those kids, some of them have been brothers to each other. They stuck together tonight as a team, just like the players who played tonight did what they had to do tonight as a team. There are so many bigger issues here and I just want everyone to know the truth.

Well I was very disapointed tonight to come back and watch a game and several of the players not even there. If they want Pierce gone so bad they should go at it a differnt way instead of not showing up for there own game! they should play because they want to and love the game, it just shows poor class from them cuz they are representing there school and hurt there fellow team mates that wanted to play it shos class from those 6 guys and specialy those freshman that played. They played hard cuz they wanted to be out there and had the chance. Thats all I got to say its just silly oh well God Bless

Knowing most of these players the way that I do, even though it is not the ideal situation to take the type of stand that they did, I agree that it probably was the best thing to do. Because of the coach's hardheadedness and stubbornness, it appears that there was no other recourse. What's really sad, is that coach can obviously see that the team doesn't want to play for him and still he stands his ground and won't resign!
Take the hint coach!

All the Pierce fans need to just get over it! He should have been gone along time ago. Every coach has their season and his has come and gone. Let's get a good coach and get CC back in the hunt for some titles!!!

First of all what kind of statement does it make if you let 7 kids run off a coach? Even if Pierce stepped down, who would want this job knowing he has a bunch of quitters on the team? You may say,"he quit because he did not agree with the coaching and philosophy", you knew going in who the coach was and what his style was and he was going to be there, anyone who has ever knew Coach Pierce knows it is his way or no way. I just do not understand why apparently 7 kids and parents are trying to run things.

Second.. what would you suppose they have done to get Pierce out? ask him? yeah right.. from what ive concluded from this whole thing is that Pierce is a stuborn old-school coach who only thinks he knows what hes doin. I really dont understand how people can say that they should play for the love of the game.. if the coach is the one hindering that love then how can the player jus suck it up an play? I think what they did tonight showed comradory and brotherhood. They all stuck together an did what they knew needed to be done. Pierce is a horrible coach an everyone knows it.. they finally got tired of it and as a team made a choice not to play..

As a parent....what kind of parent would you be if you let a grown man make a joke of your kid. He on way more than one occasion has shown he can not be professional in his position. When you do things under handed to certain individuals to prove your the one in control....that's not basketball that's childish. He has stepped way out of the boundaries of basketball. Just because his title is coach...does that mean he is allowed to do and say what he wants? He is a man....he puts his pants on as we all know...Just like the rest of us!!!!!

That is the problem. You heard worse and it should never have happened. Leaders and mentors are not demeaning, and you should expect them to be a role model. Too much is happening wrong with that style of behaviour in coaching.. Tennessee football? Sports with players, coaches and parents out of control. God like complexes of sports figures who are not responsible in the image they give our youth. Sorry ae2 that you ever heard a coach say worse, even if that coach was successfull. The message is more important than the outcome. These kids will not get college scholarships from this program from either their lack of skills or their coaching, what they will take with them in life in what they learn. that's what sports is all about in my opinion, at this level. Some can go on and do bigger things but I hope you see that is those athletes can influence others more greatly and that is how change for the better starts in our world.
