win or be fired... I can see that and tend to agree... and looking and thinking more deply into this subject, just what does teh administration look for... wins??? a clean program??? revenue produced??? the relationship between coaches and parents??? i dont have or even pretend to know the answers... but compare the football program to the basketball program (in regard to the topics I mentioned briefly in this same post).... do any of you see teh disparity in teh two, not just over the past few years but since the beginning of CCHS??? for the most part, the hiring and firing of coaches at CCHS have not been the doings of principals and AD's at CCHS... teh higher ups have done tne most if not all... teh recommendations of the principals and AD's have been all but ignorred... so if you wan ta coach replaced to whom do you turn??? again, no answers here... I guess I am just trying to stir the pot to see what everyone thinks... jus who does teh community turn to if they think a coach should be relaced??? I am not advocating teh firing or teh rehiring of any coaches... just stirring...
and thanks again Mike R for your imput... you are a true compliment to the coaching profession... you have done much to leave your mark on the kids you have coached... you hae left your mark on teh coaching profession... hope to see you on teh sidelines again soon in some capacity as a coach!!!

Campbell County basketball is a joke and always will be... until there are changes made at the top. There needs to be new faces. First of all, there does not need to be 2 assistant coaches. One that has a son playing, the other that has coached them since jr. pro. I went to a game lastnight, and Pierce has talent, he just does not know how to coach it. Why does it always happen that when it comes to getting new coaches administators never look outside the county? Campbell County athletics is a laughing stock when talked about "outside" the county, and it doesnt have to be. There are quality coaches that would come here if we would pay better supplements. It only takes a couple of good athletes to win games, along with a good coach. Thank you for your time.

Therein lies the problem Mr. James. It is not getting someone to come here, its getting them to come here for what the pay is. You get what you pay for, unless somebody is definitely in it for the kids and don't necessarily want to be paid they just want to see the kids excel. There is another Jody down the road at Oak Ridge who is a second year teacher of history and an assistant coach for the varsity team. What better way to build a name for yourself. I don't know lets stir the pot some more and see what comes to the top.

Jody Goins would be a good choice. He was a great PG!

Heck, at this point, I would be willing to bring back David Wampler to coach the bball team. Anyone is better than Pierce.

a new coach could possibly be a start in the right direction but how and where do we go about doing it? Coach Pierce is capable of coaching a team, but i question the athletes desire to win sometimes. if the players are questioning there coaches decisions everyday, where is the team headed, definately not in the right direction. like it or not, Coaches Pierce and Green are making the calls, THEM ONLY! so why are we not supporting them? until something is done, we have to show support for who is there NOW, til then, we are never gonna be successful!

Brent I have to say I can't really follow you. By supporting coaches that I can safely say "most" people want fired how does one show he/she is unhappy with the direction of the program, development of athletes, and progress of the student athlete in general under said coaches. I think what you are trying to say is support the team and the players, but voice the disghust with the coaching situation.

Well said Redhound and I agree. i spoke with some of the players yesterday and it was kind of funny to listen to them talk about the situation. It is bad when some of the players know that the current staff cannot advance them in their athletic careers. Some of these young men have plenty of potential but are being stymied by the system they are in. It is a sad predicament for all.

I also don't have a dog in the fight and I can see that there are players out there that under any other coach/circumstance would be on the bench...what is he thinking. I have always thought the world of Coach Pierce, but it certainly appears that he no longer has the best interest of his players in mind. When he first came back in 98-99 somewhere around there, he had the energy and enthusiasm of a first year coach...not any more. Personally it is hard to understand what has happened, but I do not like it one bit...a man that has accomplished as much as he has as a coach should be able to go out on his own terms at the top of his game...not like this. I honestly feel sorry for the team and coaches through all of this they are the ones that are/will suffer most.

Heard from a very reliable source yesterday that one of the early season starters was transferring at the end of the semester! And this is a big jolt to several of the sports programs! Hate to see it happen, he's a great kid and works harder than anyone I have seen in a while.

Yea, I heard that same rumor from one of his teammates. I dont know if that rumor holds as much water as it did when the arguments surrounding Pierce were as heated, but if he does in fact leave that would be very VERY bad for not only basketball, but football and cross country as well.
