I agree with your comment. There are always going to be parents who aren't going to be happy. In their eyes their child is the best player on the team and if they're not playing the entire game then they're not getting enough playing time. LET THE COACH BE A COACH

I agree to a point....but I think what zooker said a while back sums it ALL up....our county doesn't care anything about sports!!!

If they did we would be competing and winning! Because we have and have had the talent!!!
Most of the school officials are to busy trying to make themselves look good! And Campbell County to other counties is a JOKE!! Our kids have heart just like these other counties they play but the big difference is...they are heavily backed!!!!
I agree that the coach has the last say.....and they are put down because the parents don't agree with their style of play or whatever the case may be....and it's true, most Jr.Pro and Little League coaches wouldn't be able to coach or even handle the HS level cause most of them are parents doing their part to give their child some alternatives for after school activities. But you know what.....at least the parents or coaches at that level AREN't doing it for the money!!!!!! Because they don't get paid a dime! They do it because they love the kids and want to be apart of their lives!!! When you get to the paid level ....

bb mama, your points sare well taken and pretty good at that...but as far as being paid (and I am not sure what teh county suplements are at this time) teh pay vs time spent is very little...
I always respected teh parents, but the coach is the coach---BOTTOM LINE!!! if a parent doesnt like the coach then they could do like the rest of the I-75 heroes and hit the trail south...even teh zookster stated that he didnt agree with coach pierce during his playing days but he took it with a grain of salt and did what he was coached to do...i would like to see some of teh "whiners" (whoever they might be) coach the team with all teh "knowledge" they seem to have...as far as Mike Reynolds being the coach, I am sure he would do a very good job...but 3A high school isnt junior pro, middle school, or AAU under 14...it is a whole new world!!!
just curious, yousay the other counties are heavily backed...what do you mean??? what else could teh county do? I am not disagreeing with you...as a matter of fact I tend to agree, but what (for the sake of a good discussion) could teh county do to make the team more competitive???

The thing about letting the coach be a coach..This is HS level basketball...the Coach....needs to know what he's doing!!! He was there when I was there and nothing has changed.

This isn't an issue with the parents disagreeing with the coach...the coach isn't winning!!! When someone is actually being paid to win games.....something is wrong!!!!

The pay should be sufficient enough that coaches would want to come coach her at CC. And they would go through a coach finding process. Not just whoever volunteered and then keep them forever! Until they decided they were done. When they started losing just like in college, Can'em!!!!

its hard to fire and replace a coach in teh middle of a season...finding teh right replacement would be very difficult at teh is stage of teh game would be difficult...it is seldom if ever done...

Didn't say in the middle of the season. This has been a problem for a while now...Before the season starts....Find a Coach! Should have been done a looooong time ago.

I want to know the ones that back Pierce...what makes him an expert at basketball? Years of coaching? Mike for an example...he's coached a few years now....but how can you say that he doesn't have a better style of coaching than Pierce or the know how? Because he's young? Every coach starts somewhere...they're not all OLD when they start! And they all start at game 0 !!!!

I sure am glad to see Cory is back on the squad, and I bet the rest of the team is also, without him there is no presence of a point guard on the court for the cougs. The best of my knowledge, him getting kicked off in the first place wasnt due to a parental issue. What kind of decision is this though, I mean you kick a kid off, then you ask him back on the team, I dont know what to think about the situation, but I do know the team will continue to struggle no matter who they ask to come back out to the team.

Commenting on the post about parents needing to let the coach be the coach, I know one of the parents that complained very well. He isnt the kind of guy that would say something because he feels his son is the best player. He would only talk to a coach if it were in the best interest of the team. I think we all can agree on one thing here, and that is that Piercy baba need to throw in the towel.

I agree that Pierce isn't the answer...however...I don't think Reynolds is also. If we use the argument that he coached these kids since elem school what about after they graduate? Is he still gonna have that fire to coach kids he has never coached. I think hiring Reynolds would be a short term answer to a long term problem! CC reminds me of the Univ of Alabama! The school is really inbred. A coach can only be a coach if he has ties to the school!! Why not go after somebody who has never even heard of CC!

This is Mike Reynolds and let me set the record straight. I resigned due to personal reasons, not because I disagreed with Coach Pierce. I am the biggest fan the cougars and Coach Pierce have. I do not want to be a coach, that is not my chosen profession. I do not have the knowledge, ability or desire to be a high school coach. I simply enjoy the game and working with the kids. When Coach Pierce asked me to help I was glad to do just that HELP. Please support the team and coaches. They got a good win tonight and will get many more. I understand all of you have the right to disagree, but please do not use my name in anything that is derogatory towards the team or Coach Pierce.

Zooker, Zach H was at the LMS game Monday night. I am pretty sure that he agreed to rejoin the team on Monday so depending on how long the individual player was out as to whether or not they made the trip Monday night. And I agree peebs but with that in mind if a coach has been in a posotion for such a long time and nobody in admin is paying any attention to what is going on, then what when problems arise. allow them to cintinue or what.
