We will slow them down, however, Chavis will continue to sit back on 3rd downs and they will convert! If you noticed the Louisville/Rutgers game, Schiano brought alotta people on 3rd downs, what happend? They got stops!

the secondary actually graded out quite well...on the winning TD pass one defender failed to cover his assignment and it cost UT the game...according to the players (in interviews) the right defense was called for the particular play that LSU scored on...one defender screwed up and it was all over... the front seven must get more pressure on teh QB, especially on the blitz packages...when the pressure from blitzes was picked up (blocked) it gave teh receivers more time to get open...thus teh completions on third and long...

If you didnt know that last pass wasnt evn for the guy that caught it. He stepped infront of it catching it in front of the guy in the back of the endzone atleast thats what Vol Calls was talking about the other night

There wasnt just 2 in the same area, there were 3. Id have to say the reason the defense may have gotten confused is because they were tired. You cant put all the blame on the D for the LSU loss. The offense couldnt move the ball when it mattered and keep the D on the sidelines enough for them to get some rest. If you take away the last 2 plays in the final 9 seconds, the offense had a total of 16 plays the entire 2nd half. Im gonna tell you this right now, UT will definitely slow Ark down substantially. Whether they can do it the entire game or not will depend solely on the offenses ability to move the ball. I guarantee you whoever wins the time of pocession battle will win this game. Im gonna go out on a limb here and say 17-10 Vols. Just cuz Im feelin frisky, 24-17 Carolina over the Gators

The Arkansas defense likes to play man, that is going to bode well for Swain and Meachem.

Tennessee's D was on the foeld to much becouse we couldn't get a stop on 3rd down! This isn't just a problem this yr, we have had problems stopping 3rd downs for quite some time!

Its not really third downs. Its third downs that are long third downs. However, Arkansas is fairly one dimensional. If the Vols can take Monk out of the game, then I believe they can take advantage of starting QB Casey thingy and Chavis will do what he needs to do all the time on 3rd down, bring pressure.

On third down I am either man/press coverage with two deep over the top...or I am getting up field in the QB's face...he can't make good decisions if he is under pressure and having to make quick ones. The TN defense is starting to look like the offense last year...very bland...Idon't know what Chavis problem is, but his seat may be warming up after the last two weeks. If you aren't attacking on defense...especially on 3rd down then the offense is attacking you, and likely converting and scoring.

When you are that close in a passing situation defenses tend to go zone coverage over the top with some pressure underneath, so one man is covering a specific area on the field...load that area with more than one receiver and you have a flood and the DB has to make a choice of who to cover.

I didn't get to see it as I was at a benefit for the hospital up here, but I wouldn't think three WRs would make the same mistake...time spacing is deadly to the zone defense, as is the basic flood...for instance in a cover two with zone under you flood one side or ther other and hopefully a gap is created with the mid/deep wr and the shallow is the dump off wr. enough coachin jargon hahaha.
