I am fortunate enough to actually own this video on DVD...Jason made a copy for me not long after he made it, I coached Chris in middle school & followed him through high school as a radio broadcaster so I had to have a copy. His 2nd effort was absolutely amazing I actually showed it to some of our players here at Bearden last year & they remembered him from their freshman year. They were all quite impressed!!

I just wonder if we will ever have a runner quite like him.

I just wonder if we will ever have a runner quite like him. no I am the first to say Chris was awesome at football. But also he's not God and it can be done! I have to say, that if Reid can mature and grow as a player mentally and physically he can be in comparison as good as Chris. If you seen any of LMS's games this year he made some spectacular plays. He can juke and jump and do all that at the middle school level, give him a few more years and he can be great. And speed I think at his age Reid is faster than Chris was. The Vols Classic in Knoxville...there were many college scouts (for track) and by time...Reid would have been 4th in the 100m. That would have been against junoirs and seniors. My hats off to Chris....but don't say never!

I have watched CC football from day one (including the first few weeks of practice)...if he wasnt the best he was less than a step behind...he ran with power, speed and had teh God given talent of what is known in football as teh"limp leg"...if you dont know what the "limp leg" is then you do not have complete knowledge of the game from the offensive prospective (running backs and receivers)...the only bad habit he had as a running back was leaving his feet (jumping/hurdling tacklers)... the easiest way to put the hurt on a skill player is to catch him in the air...he has no way to resist the force of a hard hitting defender if he is in the air...granted, if he successfully clears the tackler he can make a spectacular play...but many runners have been injured by leaving their feet... chris avoided injury for the most part which is a tribute to his physical conditioning... in defense of him being a victim of teh system/Campbell County, the system/CC never failed Chris...there was much more to it than that...a college career for him was never in teh mix...

The video is the real deal. Kinda looks like a recruitement video. What a shame for all that to go to waste. highlight film yes...recruitment video mmmmmmmmmmm...actually recruiters watch game films, not highlight videos...recruiters like to see how players react under game situations including adverse situations...college coaches (although they might not admit it) dislike highlight videos...they like to watch the players they recruit during completre game scenarios... several years ago Central HS in Knoxville had a Smith girl who was a pretty good player, but her attitude was horrendous...I was doing a CC game vs central when she played and I actuall saw her quit persuing (spelling) as a defender when a Lady Coug stole the ball from her...she ran a few yards and just stopped...yes, she still signed withthe Lady Vols but never saw the floor and soon quit...there could have been a great highlight film on her...she had tremedous potential but never panned out above HS...

Reid is a great player....many people forget how good of a defensive player Chris was....so even if Reid is considered a better RB, they wont be a better all around player IMO.....

Like I said and want to say again...I am taking nothing away from Chris...he wasn't just a great fb player but a great kid! Gonna go back a little bit just so you know where I'm coming from. Josh didn't play football as a freshman. He started out playing basketball and figured grades in and didn't want to take on more than (he could handle it) but didn't want to handle. With some persuasion from Wells and Womp Josh started out playing his sophomore yr. In spring practice he tore the ligaments on both sides of his ankle had crutches, therapy...the whole nine yards and was told by his therapist, don't play this year. So now we are into his Jr ( and Chris's) year. Josh's Jr yr he didn't miss one summer work out! There was one other guy that didn't but can't remember which one. Chris came to very few. Their capt. Clark...didn't come to very many. Now don't give me Chris's family life history, I know all of that...and that wasn't why he missed most practices...though some were. Josh was very dedicated...as you should be...if your going to do something..either do it all the way or don't do it! Him and Chris are good friends.....but he too, didn't understand how someone with the potential that Chris had.....wasn't dedicated. My point to this story is...Reid...at his age works out every day. He is on a high protein diet. Is very aware of his body and the demands that football brings as far as strength and overall work ethic. If Reid keeps on the road that he's on ( as far as working out)...keeps his nose clean....stays focused and all of this grows with his mental capability. He can surpass Chris! And about defense...Chris was a great defensive player....Josh told me many stories about how ruthless Chris was on the field.....you gotta be! True, right now Reid is more offensive minded but he was a key part of our defense this year...when Keenan wasn't hammering them and they got away.....out of no where...Reid would clean their clock! When your getting hit with that much speed behind it....don't matter if they weigh 100 lbs...it's gonna hurt. And Reid took many players out of the game with a tackle that just left them dazed. But I agree about the defense. He has a lot to learn and the juniors and seniors will help him out in that area~ Reid is already guaranteed a track scholarship, there's no doubt about it. And I do believe that he can go to a big school. ( don't want to hear all of the naysayers! about divisions and all of that~) Anyway, I just think that work ethic will play a big part into Reid's career at CC. And will make the difference!

Things did change for Chris and so did his dedication. Just imagine if he had been sold out 100%...that is what I'm saying....there is room for improvement, with dedication~
And one more thing...I'm sure he did love you all back in middle school ...I know there has been many good football players with great potential...come through LMS. And was very dedicated...and got to HS and that was all she wrote! I do give props to Chris he worked with his situation and still was the best RB CC has ever had!

After viewing Johnson video, I forgot how good he actually was. I just got to watch him four or five times in person, but he was a great football player. It is sad that he didn't end up going anywhere to play. I know he had off the field issues that kindly put a damper on that. Players have to realize that academics plays a big part in getting recruited by colleges. He has to rank as one of the best running backs at CCHS along with Scott Miller whom I went to school with and got see play about every Friday night.

one thing about chris that he had and i am afraid reid does not and will not have is gratitude for those around him, you never heard chris say anything about he great he was, he always gave credit to his line and his blockers. i am afraid that reid is all about "me". hopefully he will mature over this summer. from what i have seen in track doesn't bode well for that and it is a shame because he does have natural ability.

I absolutely agree! I have some things to say on that issue but chose not to...for the fact that I don't want anything to be misconstrued. But I know first hand how humble Chris is...and he did give credit to everyone else but himself. He hated when the TV crews were there! You get no argument from me ...A lot does have to change but the potential is there~

peebs I didn't mean that kind of recruitment. Kinda like an all Chris all the time kinda thing. If he would of been more into the book part of school, things might be different now, along with some other situations.

Reid is a great back and I have watched him on different occasions. He does have great work ethic, but I dont see him being as good or better than Chris. I do think Reid is a great back though.
