With basketball season in the home stretch it is rapidly approaching time for the spring sports. I know some fo you have some fond memories of these sports. Baseball, softball, track, and tennis always offer some exciting matchups. I can't wait to go cover them

Last year at the area meet for the middle schools. Keenan wasn't saying anything to anyone and he stepped up and threw the discus 116'5" and just walked out looking disgusted. The other guys were shocked by the effortlessness of the throw. They talked among themselves while Keenan went to tell Billie Ann. His last throw he turned it loose and cleared the roped off area by 20 feet but it was foul by about 2-3 feet. This year he should be throwing about 125' to 130' and should lead the pack in the event. Last years throw is the new school record.

LaFollette track is so outstanding. I figure we will have a good spring from them and the JMS golfers.

Heck JMS probably doesn't keep records...at least not accurately. Stockwell was a very good track coach when I was there...it was the first year of track at JMS and Paul Provins was gracious enough to teach the throwers...he taught me a lot of solid fundamentals. It doesn't seem like JMS track has been as succesful as LMS, especially since the early days back in the late 90's when Stockwell was still coaching track.

Jellico baseball is just about dead. Does LaFollette or Jacksboro have a Senior League? I've got a boy who's about to turn 14 and he sure would like to play ball this spring. I have talked to a lot of dads aobut forming a traveling team but I guess it's still too cold for some people to get excited about baseball. Who could I contact about getting some Jellico boys to play ball over there?

There is at least 3 teams moving up and it is undecided if they will inter-league with anyone else yet. Caryville has never had a senior league. They won't even put a mound on the field for the kids to learn to pitch from!! LaFollette will be having signups this Sat. 10am @ Rec. Center. There is talk about having a signup Saturday in Jellico if there is some interest from there.
