I'm a neutral observer in the CC Basketball situation. In other words, I don't have a dog in the hunt. But with that said, Coaches must be able to coach and we must trust their judgment in decision making during practice and games, techniques they use to teach players, strategies they employ during the course of the season, decisions on playing time, and most importantly, they are teaching our sons and daughters the aspect of fair play, team chemistry, and the character that it takes to become a productive citizen in our society. In no way should a coach cross the line, and break a student-athlete's spirit. Yes, he or she as a coach should have stern discipline with the team and the issue of fairness should be employed at all times in dealing with discipline issues. I have no idea why the young men at CCHS chose to leave their basketball team. But, if parental pressure is being applied at the coach over playing I feel that the Parents are wrong in this situation. Again you must trust the coaches decision with this element of the game. If this indeed is the trouble, I can only hope the administration at CCHS will back the coach in this situation. If not, every coach in the county will be held hostage by parents if disgruntled over playing time. The key element we need to remember that sports will hopefully teach or son or daughter the characteristics to be successful later in life. Again this only my opinion. What do you think?

I agree totally. Parents need to stay out of the picture. The parents of the "Fab 7" knew who the coach was before the season began. Instead of coming to coach Pierce to discuss any issues....GUESS WHAT.....the parents went to the DOS and wanted the coach OUT. The problem was not with the players but with the parents. Its went on for years the parents trying to live through their Kids. Face it parents you dont always get what you want when you want it. What are you teaching your Children. If they lie and decieve they will get what they want, these teachings are funny coming from a so called pastor. All the parents have caused is distrust and grief. Kids who were once friends now cannot stand one another.....GOOD GOING PARENTS

These parents did discuss problems with the coach. When a preacher comes to a coach and tells him, he's there to pray that he'll do the right thing and quit and then threaten the coach for not doing what they want is crazy!!!! I dont blame pierce for telling them to go to the house! Heck, I probably would have beat the crap out of that preacher!

(and if you read all the posts his name is all over here) But I will type slowly so you can understand. Reason (1), Pierce is Seale`s guy, he is protecting him when he knows he is/has been wrong in his actions. Parents did attempt to talk to seale. He refused to return calls. When forced to talk in public he said there is nothing he can do. Yet he tells everyone nothing goes on in his school without his approval. Translation: It is OK with seale. Reason (2), Pierce only acts the way administration allows him to act. (you know the kiss...etc just one example) Reason (3), No one would be so outspoken in support of this mess unless there is an agenda. Translation: If your sons playes more now, or has just been added to team I understand, If you are family of pierce I understand. Nothing else makes sense. Reason (4), Seale paid kids to run around in their trucks (as if he actually had support), so there is no reason to think the same might not happen here, just using this board instead of a truck. Reason (5), It was meant to be a joke, just as the administration allowed this situation at CCHS to become a joke. |

getting rid of the coach mid-season , losing record or not , can only happen for extreme reasons. Tax-payers money cannot afford to pay out lawsuits for firing a coach mid-season for not playing a certain style of ball. Make ur statement at the beginning or end of season.

I love the post that said, "let me type slowly" So. Let me type slowly. Parent goes to speak with pierce in person, _ Pierce gets smart a__. (no surprise). Pierce gives instruction to parent> (1) go talk to principal (2) got talk to board (3) go talk to Blevins (4) I "aint" goin anywhere Now read slowly, parent follows coach instructions (as you and others say to do). Result= Parent did that So please get off band wagon, besides he got rid of you didn`t he? Get real, If you like it or not these people work for tax payer money. If this was J.Frank White it might be different. |

Dude we need more people like u around here....Coaches choose playing time and style. If the parents dont like it they can pack their stuff up and "Go to the house" with thier child
